*** Nintendo Switch ***

I did a quick search on a site which looks for deals on electronics on Portuguese stores and found the Switch for €314. That's £270! :o

Why did I do that...that's just torture!

I have to say, I'm actually feeling a bit excited about this. Booked the 3rd off work (and watch amazon deliver it a 8pm .) It's been a long time since I've been excited about a console.

Nice hardware, good for younger players maybe? The main reason people will buy the Switch is for the Nintendo IP, like Mario and Zelda. Problem is, if you're in your 30s or 40s, you've already seen Nintendo IP back in the day with the NES and SNES. Those days were the heyday for Nintendo and older gamers. The game play was addictive and video games were really starting to gain popularity. Yes ok, a lot of this is nostalgia talk, but it's still a valid point. The point being, a lot of people WILL buy the Switch and get a few days of 'gameplay' from it, only to put it back in it's box or on the shelf gathering dust. You can't recapture your youth no matter what. You won't be playing Mario 24/7 like you did with Super Mario Bros 1 in the late 80s on the NES or Super Mario Bros 3 (NES) and Super Mario World (SNES) in the early 90s. Even if you had no responsibilities today, like it was in your teens, you'd still get bored of any new Mario or Zelda pretty quickly.

Thanks for that, just cancelled my pre order. Don't want it sitting gaining dust after a week.

I'll agree that my purcase is heavily built on nostalgia but I'd reserve judgement on the games until you play them or read reviews if I were you.

Realistically it takes a special game to capture my attention nowadays being in my 30s and there's only been a handful of titles I return to on my PS4. I'm currently hooked on Nioh but I reckon I'll get my money's worth out of the Switch with just some of the games I want from the launch window.

I didn't feel any hype a month ago. And literally only ordered so the nippers could play mario kart. But the more I read and watch the more hyped I get.

:D can't wait !!

Neon>all :p

the hype makes the waiting even more difficult. I'm trying to 'switch' off news about it to make the days go faster. Sorry pun intended! :p

My PS4 literally hasn't been switched on in 6 months, so it's not uncommon for a console to sit there doing nothing for long periods of time. That's the nature of the beast.

I fully expect to play Zelda, a bit of VC then it'll sit there until Mario is out.

(Yes I know you were joking about cancelling the pre order :p )

I was joking but yeah I know what puplesky and you are saying. I'm alright with leaving it for a while and waiting for Mario, I'm 34 and should probably be doing other things! It's not like the Amiga days where I'd go down to the dodgy guy on a Sunday and buy a new game for a £1 per disk :P I wish

Got to be in it to win it!

They did honour a number of Vita games for £7.99 on preorder years ago a few weeks before the Vita release. So I might lucky again :)
