*** Nintendo Switch ***

Do they charge whilst the console is in sleep mode too?

I've just left them connected to the console now whilst it's docked and on the home screen. See if that does anything!
I am pretty sure they do. Would be very weird if it did not. I will confirm later on today as I will be playing in portable mode very shortly.

cracks up laughing - thats the one thing thats atrocious about the switch and its game is the actual price.

And yes I have actually held one and seen it being played - but the best part of £340 for a portable + 1 game is simply awful vfm , especially given the only headline game is on another older console and the majority of tech inside the switch is pretty old (and therefore should be much cheaper)

Price of the games is a complete rip off, and the peripheral pricing ....just cant stop laughing at your original comment

Unfortunatly this is always the case with new systems and games. PS4 xb1 both were the same, and the PS3! Get a second job they said ;)

I'm glad it's there for the guys here that wanted to get it day one, I'm certainly getting one later in the year. The price of the games I agree are just awful but that's always the case. Not saying it's right but if the others do it, so should nintendo

Yeah the price of the games is very steep.

I think my ownership of the switch will be similar to the WiiU in that I only buy Nintendo games for it and just enjoy it for exclusives.

A high end PC and a Nintendo has been my favoured choice for years now.

Yep was same fire me and the Wii u, nice combo just a shame I wasn't too keen on the game pad etc on the Wii u but this looks much improved

I might be in the minority but I much preferred the WiiU gamepad to the Switch with joy cons attached, it doesn't feel right in the hands at all to me.

Saying that I didn't buy this for portability, it'll be in the dock 99% of the time.

Controller issue seems hit and miss. Framerate is resolved with an update of the game.

So it seems the controller issue is the main problem affecting some, but not all!

Imagine Nintendo will say something soon once they can see how big of an issue it is. Sounds like a batch of faulty Joy cons to me!

The framerate is not fixed by the update, it chugs every time I go near grass.

After playing Horizon with its rock stable framerate it's VERY noticeable!

Lots of people slate Nintendo consoles but I think they overlook the quality of the games Nintendo produce. Sure they aren't as technical as some games like Last of Us, Uncharted or Halo etc but they are brilliantly polished.

Mario Kart 8 for example. It runs so smooth, It looks spectacular and it's gameplay is an instant hit with any of my friends who play it.

Sometimes Nintendo miss the mark with seemingly dumb business decisions but I wouldn't be happy if I didn't support them :)

I guess I'll have to look at replacing the left joy-con somewhere down the line or I'll have to front the money for a pro controller. Neither of which is ideal for a console which I own one game for. Those who happen to live in a house where they're on top of their docked switch and have no other wireless devices in the room must take this as bashing or moaning but it's the fly in the soup for me.

The hardware is great and Breath of the Wild is fantastic but I have this one intermittent problem. The strange thing is just how intermittent it is, you can be sat playing for a good 5 - 10 minutes then suddenly Link runs off a cliff when you stop pressing the analog stick and nothing has changed about how you are holding the controller. The fact that I can't recreate the issue without doing something ridiculous tells me there's an inherent hardware fault with some of the left Joy-cons.

The framerate issues in Zelda are so weird in that it's not tied down to the amount of things it's rendering on screen. As mentioned above you can walk through a random patch of grass, in the middle of nowhere, and suddenly the framerate tanks. The reason why it is so noticeable is that any dip in framerate is automatically taken to 20fps. There was a great DF video posted earlier which showed exactly what was happening. If you can't live with it then your only option is to turn the TV output to 720p and live with the jaggies.

I find it more strange that some report huge frame rate issues and others say it runs absolutely fine.

So Nintendo have posted some official guidance for the situation where the Joycon has intermittent problems.

So there we have it. No fix, no patch and no realistic solution. Console has to be docked, out in the open, away from a TV or any other wireless device with you sat as close to it as possible. Unacceptable I'm afraid.

It's probably not any wireless device. I know the sky q interferes with other wifi devices and I'm worried it will mess up my switch when I get it.

For Joy con issues I'd be contacting Nintendo directly. State you've done everything and insist on a replacement. They'll do it.

The fact that some have it and some don't tells me it's an issue specifically with some of those left joy cons. If it was more common and happened to both joy cons I'd say something else was amiss, personally.

It's undeniable that it tanks randomly but it isn't unplayable. Some people simply do not notice these things. Whilst I was playing yesterday someone watching commented on it and I was so engrossed in the game I hadn't noticed at that particular moment.

Yep, same here. Great combo!

Yea. The game is so good that one just does not even care or care to notice. Lol

Must say i dont feel like im experiencing any severe drops in frame rate. Theres been the occasional time when its done it slightly but not to the extent of some of the reports im reading on here. Either you are being uber critical or im a bit dumb and dont notice it as much!

I don't think you're being dumb at all. When I say 'tanks' you expect 1fps and horrendous judder so perhaps I'm being dramatic with my description. There's a distinct -10fps impact on performance, which is still more than playable and fairly smooth if you're used to it and it's stable.
