*** Nintendo Switch ***

Do you think it's feasible to purchase a switch instead of a new tablet? I'd rarely buy games for it so it's for one off games but more internet browsing and wathing vids.

You'd need a tablet. The Switch has no media or browsing functionality yet. It's a games console, plain and simple. I'm sure that stuff will come though later. For now it's pretty much a Zelda machine.

How comfortable is it to hold as a portable and play? As it's pretty much flat at the back with the triggers at the top does it feel good in hand or a bit, I dunno, not so good lol?

I imagine some janky 3rd party Dev will produce something to bulk it out a bit!

So Verys main search page says I stock next to the switch, but once you click on it and go to the items page it says delivered on 31/03/17

So I guess they aren't in stock?

With the Zelda game it says next day available so sounds like they are out of consoles?

Any one use Very for there's or can comment on this? Ta

Thank you! I would hope they'd utilize that market, for instance I would purchase one instead of a tablet at the same price if it had a simple browser.

It's important to be able to accept criticism of the Switch and some of Nintendo's decisions. They are big enough and ugly enough to deal with it!

I've seen far too many examples of people resorting to antagonism to defend their purchase. It's unreasonable to expect a thread to consist solely of praise. You have to accept the rough with the smooth!

The Switch is by no means perfect, and Zelda is certainly not the be-all and end-all. No one can deny that they've had a lasting impact, but we must remain rational and objective. Nintendo are not infallible!

What are you banging on about? You don't like it, great. Move on. It's the best Nintendo console in years despite its documented faults some of which I have been very vocal about.

The Switch is by no means the car crash you, and many, are making it out to be.

Not at the moment. It has no browser or media playback function.. yet. I'm confident these will come somewhere down the line, until then I'd hold off if these features are important to you.

It honestly doesn't need bulking out and it feels fine to hold as a handheld. I hear your concern as I initially had the same thoughts. The controls are tiny but perfectly serviceable.

I've found it quite comfortable, it really isn't heavy, I struggled with the Vita much as I loved it, could only play in short bursts as it made my hands hurt.

True, and I don't think most of us are so stupid as not to see there are issues, always would be when Nintendo decided to make a hybrid. At least Nintendo try something new.

What we don't need is continual banging on about it from people who didn't buy one and who won't buy one telling us they aren't buying one. Move on please, no one cares.

Zelda is an amazing game and needs to be played, regardless of it being on Switch or Wii U. I've not had any Joy-Con issues or crashes, frame rate chugged a bit in a couple of areas but not the end of the world.

I'd love for Zelda to be in 4K with amazing textures and AA, but it isn't. If the tech is what makes a good game then you should only play on PC in future.

As always with Nintendo it's about the games and having fun. Zelda is great, and I'm having fun.

There's no denying we'd all love to see Zelda in 4k but honestly does it even matter?

Ask any gamer to knock together a list of their favourite games of all time and there's not many in there due to resolution or framerate.

If 720p was good enough for Xbox One players, it's definitley good enough for a handheld. :D

So a few days into switch ownership, and I have to say I'm impressed!

I was a bit on the wall when I received it - this was more to do with it being a crappy month money-wise, loads of yearly bills going out. It is a quality item, and I personally like the UI.

I haven't really played it with the joycons disconnected, I've just used the pro controller, which again is a quality piece of kit.

I wasn't sure about Zelda at first, it was good but... 15 hours in and I find myself playing it every moment I can :D. A fantastic game, and as mentioned by other people, on my plasma it looks awesome. Being able to take it with me (which I have a few times) with a game of the size and quality of BOTW is amazing. I've found myself playing it a few times in bed ;). In the words of my 5 year old Daughter, Zelda is the best game ever. It's amusing listening to her tell her Mummy about whats happened in the game :D.

If they can keep the games coming, I think they've produced something that can be very popular.

Just watched the new videos on the news feed and the idea of all these indie games hand held is pretty awesome.

Potentially a great future if Nintendo don't do be so stubborn and release their back catalogue too!

Agreed, I can appreciate an amazing game even at 720p with framerate dips.

I'd rather they weren't there, I'd rather it was 60fps to aim the bow easier but it's not and it's not something I dwell upon.

I have a very decent PC (SLI Titan X, 100hz G-Sync ultra wide screen) but I don't crap on other systems like you often see in online comments.

I imagine games built for the switch architecture from the ground up will run better anyway. Won't the next Mario be the first real test?

To help me with the bow aiming i turned the gyro aiming off. I just aim using the thumb sticks :)

Well, I'm sat out front of game in Reading, got my numbered ticket. 16 consoles going, I've got ticket number 2 and there are only 2 of us here. They will go on sale at 11am.
