*** Nintendo Switch ***

Agreed, I can appreciate an amazing game even at 720p with framerate dips.

I'd rather they weren't there, I'd rather it was 60fps to aim the bow easier but it's not and it's not something I dwell upon.

I have a very decent PC (SLI Titan X, 100hz G-Sync ultra wide screen) but I don't crap on other systems like you often see in online comments.

I imagine games built for the switch architecture from the ground up will run better anyway. Won't the next Mario be the first real test?
+1

Too me a while, but I am getting better using the bow. I have found the gyro can be helpful.

Do you think it's feasible to purchase a switch instead of a new tablet? I'd rarely buy games for it so it's for one off games but more internet browsing and wathing vids.

Not at the moment no, the Switch does one thing and one thing only currently!!

Edit: Late to the party on that one! :)

Eurgh!!! You monster - it's so much easier with the gyro controls.

I didn't even realise the bow had gyro controls?

Saying that, thumb sticks > gyro!

Why? If the increase in resolution and effects has any increased load for the CPU (which they often do) then it is feasible that using the full GPU power can still result in a decrease in frame rate as the CPU speed never changes.
I'm well aware that there is more than one component needed to for increased frame rates/resolution but if you check out the comparison between docked/portable on digital foundry you really arent getting anything extra other than increased resolution at the cost of frame rate stability.

It kinda makes the vastly increased clocks on the GPU pointless, it's not unreasonable to expect GPU to be the bottleneck on the Switch due to how underclocked it is in portable mode. I hope this is just because of the type of game Zelda is as i would have expected a more stable experience in docked with extra bells and whistles, not a game that is less stable.

My cheap Amazon.fr order still hasn't been posted. No idea what they are playing at as it's status keeps flipping between "shipping today" and "preparing for delivery".

I'm hoping it's because this was originally a wii u game and this is a port designed to meet a console launch date rather than an inherent issue with the console.

The more open the environment the more CPU bound it is.

I noticed my first bit of slowdown today for a few seconds a few hours in. It's a complete non issue IMO. I've been too involved with the game. Seek out non-issues and you will always end up disappointed, as always.

Have to agree with you here, and hope we don't see similar issues with the upcoming port of Mario Kart 8.... After that though I guess we won't see many other "ports"
Have to say though I do think Zelda looks brilliant!!

This is my thoughts also. When a game is designed from ground up for the Switch, I am sure it will be different.

Even though I would have preferred if the Switch used the more powerful and efficient pascal, I am happy with it now that I have it in my hands. It shows a lot of promise, just hope we get lots of games.

Im really liking this thing, was laying in bed with it propped up in the case playing Zelda for about 2 hours completely engrossed.

I actually had the joy cons disconnected and just used them individually in each hand with my arms just resting on the bed, was very comfortable.

I had been expecting using them separate with my big hands to be massively uncomfortable after 5 mins.
