*** Nintendo Switch ***

It isnt. Ign and various other have said it isnt retro.

"Fyi, Metroid Prime 4 is not being developed by Retro Studios, but a new team led by franchise producer Kensuke Tanabe."

Didn't realise and only read it there...glad it's being overseen by the series producer.

The last time the assembled a new team they got Splatoon out of it so no bad thing :)

Yeah 27th October, good news. Seems like Xenoblade 2 may also make it out this year... "Holiday 2017", but I won't believe it until I see an exact date.

Looks like the doors have opened to the public at E3 lol, it's heaving in there!

New Mario looks such a dull platformer compared to the recent ones, not a big fan of the "theme".

If there's a proper pokemon game released I'll buy a switch on it's release date

You are quite possibly the only person to call Odyssey "dull".

Not the only one.
I don't think the demo or city level did it any favours; maybe it's just the art style on that particular stage but it didn't wow me.

Hopefully when more of the game is shown it'll change my opinion.

Still hoping for a good Starfox game on the Switch one day. :)

New Mario, Pokemon and Metroid. Then we still have Smash, Pikimin to go at least.

Wow. Nintendo, well done. A Pokemon release is going to see the switch sell like hot cakes.

I feel this year, and next, are going to be very strong years for the switch. This is what nintendo is all about, the first party titles such as mario, and metroid!

It got off to a slow-ish start, but the upcoming games are looking really good. Albeit we haven't seen anything of metroid yet. It's just great news that it is actually confirmed, and coming.

Also a true console pokemon is in the works too. I mean, that doesn't interest me, but its great news for the guys who play the handheld versions!

Well, if I'm honest, that Nintendo Direct wasn't a complete failure. Though still a smidge disappointing, we didn't have any reveals of Switch games coming out this year outside of that Mario Rabbids and Rocket League. That one in particular was a pleasant surprise and even better that it supports cross-platform multiplayer. I just hope it isn't overpriced compared to other versions as many cross-platform Switch games have been. Nintendo having the guts to simply mention that Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Switch are on their way, did honestly turn it around, though even concept art would have been nice. I'm surprised they didn't beat Microsoft in 'games shown per minute,' I did feel that too much of the very short Direct was spent on just talking about random stuff instead of showing off more gameplay. I would have expected more focus on games from Nintendo. I'm also surprised that they showed off very little in terms of hardware, but then some might say they don't have the hardware to sell to be able to do that. I still would have liked some custom Joycons or more Switch console bundles.

By far the biggest disappointment though, was no announcement of a Western release of Monster Hunter XX on Switch. Not great when all the other platforms get a brand new HD Monster Hunter made from the ground up in February, simultaneous worldwide release. When that game comes out, Monster Hunter XX will lose it's exclusivity of being a console Monster Hunter game. Confirmed that MHXX has no plans to currently release in the West :c

Metroid on the 3DS was a pleasant surprise, especially it being a remake of Metroid 2. Release in September. As much as I hate the 3DS, I'm happy with this game, it almost makes up for the fact that Nintendo were douchebags to the fans who made a fan remake of Metroid 2. Almost.

I guess my plans for the Switch this year are simple. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Monster Hunter XX imported, Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. And if I'm honest... even someone as cynical as me must admit that, that group of games is pretty impressive for a first year of a console. Even if there's not too many more games.

Wonder if it will be the usual Pokemon top down style or full 3D open world like BotW.

Well I for one doubt it will move too wildly away from the existing formula which will disappoint a lot of people.

To be fair they've tried to go more and more 3D in terms of the perspective and movement so it's possible we'll get something closer to what we want but I doubt it will end a full open world game.

More likely a really nice 3D perspective but still in the controlled routes of the existing games, works perfectly fine for me :)

Also loads of people seem to be concerned about the lack of a dual screen set up (from internet chatter) but that's something I'm not concerned in the least about. I can almost see it's as having side bar menus in battle.

Won't see anything for a while yet though but I'm delighted it's coming and also that Switch will continue to have a strong library throughout the rest of this year and leading into next.
