*** Nintendo Switch ***

Has anyone picked up Civilization 6 yet? Really want to get this but seems too high a price - haven't seen it lower than £44.

I've got it and it's great. I've been playing it so much that I see it in my sleep. The price is ok because of longevity. If you're into it you'll put 100's of hours into it. Runs amazingly well on the Switch.

Who are people going with for main fighters this time out?

Mine are:

Captain Falcon (been my main since the series began)
Sheik
Ken
Roy

Probably fair to keep he info in spoiler tags as not everyone will know the full roster.

I haven't used him yet as I won him just as I stopped playing. But if it's anything like SSB:M then my go-to will be young link

Civ is really addictive. My only real grumble with the game is it gets so slow toward the end that I tend to get bored. I'd also like some better custom scenario options as the ones in this game don't seem as flexible as some installments in the series.

For your £45 you do get some of the DLC packs included. Aztecs, Vikings, Australia, Poland, and Persia & Macedon are included. Nubia is £3.99. Khmer & Indonesia is £8.99. So if you want the remaining DLC, the game is costing a rather steep £58. If Rise & Fall is released for Switch, that'll be another £25. And Gathering Storm, £35.

It's a pricey game.

Ordered Smash from Amazon but forgot to change the delivery address so it arrived at work on Saturday :( Was sat waiting on Saturday morning then got a delivery notification :p

He's top tier in this version.

With both players setting 1500 MTU and two wired connections it seems to be pretty good CH to UK, but with wireless is impossible to get rid of the input lag.

With matches against randoms it seems no one has set the MTU to 1500 so changing it on my end makes no difference.

It's 9.99 on PC but it's far easier to dip in and out on the Switch than the PC.

I can't believe they havent fixed the latency issues with online on Smash. This was a problem before and still is in the next version of the game.

Nintendo really are backwards at times.

It's not a surprise as it's just Smash 4 from the WiiU with some minor balance tweaks. I don't think anyone was expecting any changes with online performance.

Fighting games need to be built from the ground up for the engine to support rollback net code. Without rollback no fighting game will perform well online.

So aside from Zelda and Mario Kart 8 what first party games are worth picking up for a Nintendo Virgin?

Donkey King Tropical Freeze?
Doesn't that come down to what you like to play? :)

RPG? Racing? Platforming? Fighting? etc etc Do you want competitive online team work for example? if you do then Splatoon 2 is the way to go.

Any option, I will play anything. I’m not interested in games available elsewhere, just things available for Switch exclusively.

Alrighty then.

As mentioned,

- Octopath Traveler is an amazing JRPG (don't let the graphics put you off, its genuinely fantastic and stunning, and a demo is available to try)
- Mario Odyssey for platforming goodness
- Splatoon 2 for online competitive multiplaying. This is an incredible amount of fun
- Super Smash Bros which literally just came out is an amazing fighter - a lot of fun
- Mario + Rabbids
