*** Nintendo Switch ***

Nintendo messed up with their last console the Wii U. So I understand why they are porting many of the games from that console to this one. They want to make money off the games they spent time developing and not a lot of people got to experience them.

I wouldn't have an issue with that if they didn't charge full price for older games or they put in even a little effort to justify the costs. Skyward sword sold 3.4m copies on the Wii by 2011 which I assume was not great but they have sold it on the Wii U and now the Switch at full price and they have done basically nothing to improve it. I would bet my life that any bugs in the original are still present in this one.

As I said, Links Awakening was a fantastic remake and worth every penny. Its a cracking game that they put a lot of love into. I don't care if Nintendo doesn't make as much as they want from a game. I don't expect to be fleeced 10 years later for exactly the same game. In the last 5 years, Nintendos value has increased 4.5 fold. They are rolling in it. They aren't some poor little company that is trying to make ends meet and recover losses to stay afloat.

Nintendo are not the only ones though. Since moving to fully digital distribution, older OC titles are commanding silly prices outside of sale periods these days.

Have you seen how much the older Call of Duty games go for?

I agree 5hat maybe they should be selling older games cheaper, however as they have had to put in some development time in order to get games to Switch. Nintendo know that they have products people want and know they will sell no matter the price.

It might not be right but they are a business out to make lots of money.

This is the reason why I still buy games on disc. If/when we get to the point that games are all digital then we'll have to pay whatever price publishers want to charge.

Dusted my switch off other day since I no longer have a GPU, started playing BoTW again and really enjoying it unlike first time round, after I've finished it I'm thinking of playing Xenoblade DE to see if I can get back into JRPG's

Ah if only it was the same price. These low effort ports can cost more than the launch price back on the Wii U!

Are these private sellers because thats simply supply and demand. Imagine if the release CoD black ops for more than you paid originally and they had done absolutely nothing to update it. Thats what Nintendo do.

I know why they are doing it. Doesn't mean I have to like it or support it.

An extra kick in the nuts for their loyal customers eh. Why wouldn't you though when get rewarded with massive sales. "Should we try and release new games and put loads of resources into that or should we just chuck out another port".

Nope, I was just referring to the price on steam (and other platforms), set by the publisher. It’s not only COD, loads of old PC games, particularly popular franchises are priced very high outside of those fixed sale periods.

What Nintendo are doing is no different, except they are bringing the same game to a new platform.

Oh snap. We are getting THPS 1+2 on the Switch later this year. I loved those games back in the day so I will have to get these when they finally come out.

Oh interesting! I fancied playing the remake but wasn't sure it was the kind of thing I'd want to play on PC. Now I've got an option to play handheld on the sofa, perfect!

Diamond Pearl remakes are in Chibi style, and seem to be developed by an outsourced studio. Will wait for more details, but not that impressed so far.

Legends Arceus is more of a mystery, clearly early in development. Will keep an open mind

Yeah not a huge fan of the D/P remakes art style, look like a mobile game. I'd much rather the let's go art style with the original mechanics still in place.
