No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Well brilliant. Went to load up my save game, it thinks I am starting a new game. Wonderful. Won't be starting again. Hopefully they fix it.

Always back up your saves mate. I’m doing mine every hour but not overwriting the last one.

Save location is c:users>appdata>roaming>hellogames>NMS>stxxxxxxxxxxx (x are numbers). Just back that up every hour

Any new player guides about - somewhat lost of what I should keep / sell / drop.

I grabbed an app from Google 'Crafting Assistant NMS' as when I last played none of this extra stuff was in the game. I still need the blueprints to make the items but it helps keep track of stuff to keep/sell.

Need to find a bigger ship that I can actually repair, only into the 2nd system at the moment.

Dont worry about repairing it totally. If you find one on a planet, just repair the items that get you into the air. Then take it to a station and use it to part exchange a likewise or better ship but all the modules will be fully unlocked.

I did lunchtime, but it doesn’t seem to like those either :(

Actually, I don't think I backed them all up. Darn. You are right, easier to do the whole folder.

I haven't found one crashed ship yet.. Is using the Signal Booster a good idea? or is that just for buildings?

Use signal booster for everything. I bought myself 2million worth of drop pod navigation modules, just kept using them in the signal booster to find them easier, same with the navigation data for the boosters.

This seems like it could really be my cup of tea now. It is like a less "realistic" Elite, but with more actually fun game elements and obviously much more focus on space legs and planetary interaction? I always felt Elite was a bit lacking in actual "meaning", so the idea of building bases and potentially getting some PVP against others is really attractive. Is that actually a thing?

Bought it tonight after Mac's WAB review.
Me and 2 mates played it for a couple of hours and really enjoyed it. Still largely clueless as we fumble through the solar system, but having fun doing it.

Game runs like a complete pig though.

It may be a bug, but I only bought 1 drop pod decipher key (or whatever its called) for the signal booster and i doesn't seem to be consumed on use. I've done about 20 drop pods so far with it.

On another note, I've only ever seen one crashed ship to fix in 30 hours of play, lots of crashed freighters though.

Picked up a copy on Friday and played for about 5 hours over the weekend in Survival mode, enjoying it so far.

So far I've done the basic intro stuff to repair my ship, warped a couple of systems across the highlighted path (after a few glitches where it wouldn't register that I put fuel into my warp drive), rescued a freighter that was under attack which then decided they want me to take command over it.

Now that I've done some practice and learnt the basics, I'm debating whether to continue to play on my current save or switch to a perma-death save for more of a challenge.
