No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

1.52.1

Hello everyone,

First of all thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing NEXT and letting us know about any issues you’ve experienced (and a special thanks to those on PC who have opted in to the Experimental branches to help us verify fixes early). It’s overwhelming to watch thousands of players begin or continue their journey across the universe.

We have now released update 1.52.1 to PC, which includes the fixes detailed below. We’ll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a crash in creature routines
  • Fixed a crash when multiple players put ammunition into a refiner
  • Fix for occasional crash when receiving mission rewards
  • Fix for crash when adjusting anisotropic filtering settings in the graphics options menu (PC only)
  • Fix for potential crash in geometry streaming
  • Improvements to texture caching for AMD GPUs (PC only)
  • Fixed an issue where some players still had physical nanites in their inventory that could not be spent at vendors
  • Granted players nanites when they dismantle their Obsolete Technology – spend nanites on new upgrades in Space Stations
  • Added a tutorial mission to guide players through the restoration of their old base
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to build Frigate Terminals in Creative Mode
  • Fixed an issue where S-Class ships changed appearance
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to build the Base Cache on their freighter to retrieve compensation for the loss of their freighter base
  • Fixed an issue where some Exosuit technology was not converted to Obsolete Technology. Please note this does not apply retroactively to save games that have already been upgraded.
  • Improved the mapping of old substances to new substances during the save upgrade. Please note this does not apply retroactively to save games that have already been upgraded.
If you experience any issues, let us know by submitting a bug report.

Thank you,

Hello Games

On another note, I've only ever seen one crashed ship to fix in 30 hours of play, lots of crashed freighters though.

Distress signals are your friend there. About 1 in 5 are ships. You can claim them now from what i can tell and still keep your old ship and use it.

Seems to be the odd game breaking save corrupting bug about.

Make sure you backup your save folder;
c:\users\your pc name\appdata\roaming\hellogames\nms\

It may be a bug, but I only bought 1 drop pod decipher key (or whatever its called) for the signal booster and i doesn't seem to be consumed on use. I've done about 20 drop pods so far with it.

Oh nice, lucky you. I used all mine, didn't think to just buy 1 first, had over 100 million at the time.

So far I've seen 2 game lock-ups over around 13 hours on my new save. Saw a post on reddit advising against freighter expeditions at the moment, in fear of a save killer.
I've put mine out on only 2 so far, 1 success and 1 fail. Will just be leaving it for a week or so to see what the noise is.

I enjoyed this game before the updates, but it's great now.
Fixing up my current crashed ship salvage (6 slots left to repair(, then I'm going to finish of the Atlas Path part to get it out the way.
My cube wooden shack is definitely not an appropriate base of operations.

The first few exosuit upgrades are so cheap that you may as well buy them.

I just read about the freighters potentially killing save games. I wonder whether that happened to mine. Oh well, made more credits in 4-5 hours than I did during my previous 30-40.

I can't believe how badly this game runs for me, wish I'd realised before I'd played 2 hours. Just figured I'd mess about with the settings later but nothing seems to help.

I've only got a 2500k, 8GB and a 290X but I run most stuff quite nicely at 1080. It generally runs around 45FPS which I can cope with, but every so often drops to about 15-20 which is really not good.

Anyone running it on anything similar and had any luck, I've dropped loads of settings down but doesn't seem to help.

When does it slow down? Have you got AA off? The game never liked my old AMD card.

Yep I've tried switching off AA. It just happens regularly as I'm running around. I think its CPU related as that seems to shoot up to 100% when it happens, and the rest of the time it hovers between about 40% and 60%.

Its also somewhat frustrating that you have to reload the game just to test new settings, but nothing I've turned down seems to have helped.

Considering the amount of time you have to wait for shaders to load each time.. they should allow the graphics settings to be accessed from the menu before this. If they can't bake settings changes into the game without re-starts that is:P

There's a guide here that might help improve performance:
