Criminals paradise basically, no one can accuse you of anything unless they can magic up pretend witnesses.
Rape is a free for all, and you can rape your maid as often as you like and beat her over and over, and her only comeback is she can get out of the rapeyhouse by admitting to sex outside of marriage and go to jail instead.

The poor maids for Indonesia are constantly shipped over there, and are in many cases treated no better than slaves, but it pays their families at home a bit more than they get in Indonesia, thus they continue to be sent, by the planeload.

Cant see how that pic in any way, shape or form means its a backward culture:confused:. Seems pretty sensible, dont wear revealing clothes...its a muslim country for gods sake...dont be doing anything dangerous and no overt displays of affection...makes complete sense to me. The UK could do with learning a few things from them.

Look their country, their laws...abide by them and you will be fine, flout them and expect to be in trouble.

I spend a lot of time in Dubai on business plus i have quite a few friends out there and i always enjoy my time out there. I dont find them backwards at all, they make the UK look like a 3rd world country but then im not keen on how they flaunt their wealth out there. But meh each to their own, im off out there again end of this month on business and im looking forward to it.
 
I spend a lot of time in Dubai and other ME countries and it is the double standards that irritate me (as well as the human rights abuse of low paid expatriates), you can't move for Russian pros yet petting in a swimming pool (potentially) gets more than a whistle blown your way.

To be fair I always have a good time there.

No, that is not backwards that is just different.

You have to be careful when framing such things - you make the assumptions that your way is correct and that your way is more advanced.

Moreover, culture is more than what someone wears.

Whilst that is true, and why I'll avoid it like the plague, it doesn't mean that we can't be critical of their laws and processes.

But that does not = determining all those countries are "backwards" without any sort of qualification or specificity.

Probably not, i rather have the freedoms that 1st world countries afford me. Not live in a place where i have no freedom of choice on how i conduct myself. Middle-east countries are very backward to the point a vast majority of men are knuckle dragging animals.

The the only thing the UK can learn from these countries is on how not to be oppressive.

That wasn't a comment on your politics, my libertarian views don't sit well with oppressive regimes either. It was more a comment on how abrasive you are.

Yes i can be, i don't mess around anymore with flowery language and i call a spade a spade. If we do agree on politics then you might very well like me quite a bit. But i will defend my freedoms with extreme prejudice if anyone thinks they can oppress me

No, really the UK couldn't learn a few things from them. Since when is an overt display of affection a bad thing? Not to mention that revealing clothes is one of the plus points of the warm weather we have been having recently! :D
 
Don't really have a problem with this. If you're in a foreign country, stick to their rules. It's no difference when foreigners comes here. They have to agree with the Law.

Yea fair enough, some countrys do have some bent rules. Don't like it, dont visit that country.
