Nvidia CEO confirms 3080 3090 shortages until 2021

"The 3080 and 3090 have a demand issue, not a supply issue,"

:D

LOL! You didn't have any cards for sale, Jensen you lying ****, big bricks and mortar stores in the US had like 10. You didn't make any FE because you didn't actually wanrt to sell any, because it was too expensivve to make that cheap, it was BS price all along. The 3090 was even worse.

A complete joke of a launch, from hype, to paid shill reviews, to sales, and it's still a joke people have been basically scammed into handing over money months in advance for cards with zero ETA.

Most places don't take money for pre-orders until ready to ship - OcUK is an exception there - I don't believe the nVidia store is taking money on orders they can't fulfil currently either. Retailers may be putting up money for shipments but that gets into complex territory as arrangements are going to vary.

Make your mind up :p they can't have not made any and at the same time have like 10 and some posters here have the FE cards so they must have made at least some.

Nope...this impatient, self entitled ' I WANT IT NOW!!!' internet culture would have ensured that no matter when they launched, it would have been a complete FUBAR result.

It's only old farts like me that have any patience thesedays..:p

Nope, I am an old fart and I have no patience at all. As I see it, waiting is lost time on the slippery slope to my demise. :p

I'm pretty sure Nvidia and AMD know more about each others future products than they let on - insider knowledge etc. The very early launch without inventory to me smacks of a few things, wanting to get out ahead of Console launch year but it was too early IMO by a month. You would still have all the same issues but not 10 units in big stores kind of shortages. An early Oct launch would have also stomped all over AMDs October calendar.
I do think they got caught out by the demand but look how desperate they were to hit Sept - production was running in Aug, AIBs did not have the drivers for cards before media/reviewers which is nuts. I think we will see a fairly competitive card from AMD - maybe a hair slower but at a lower wattage when running full tilt. If they can combine that with some semblance of stock that might explain the Sept launch - if Nvidia heard about it.

Scammed? I chose to pre-order, knowing full well what it entails and that nowhere else has stock either, not even nvidia.
Yes, more info was needed and OC have tried to give that, with queue position and the odd trickle of stock incoming notifications.

Feel scammed, then refund and wait until there's an abundance of stock, its not rocket science.

So what would you call ordering a gpu that said it was arriving on Tuesday?

Sure you can cancel for a refund then re order when stock comes in at gouged pricing?

They have got you over a barrell with an iron fist clenched on the short n curlies.

"Nvidia also recently postponed the RTX 3070 launch to build up supply, but given the impressive 2080 Ti-beating performance at a reasonable $499 price point (per Nvidia), we can expect demand will be even greater than we've seen for the 3080 and 3090."

Once again, it won't be 499 if the friggin thing isn't available all pie int he sky lol and who says it's going to beat the 2080ti? mr Huang? rofl... mmmm, I'll take that with a big pinch of the white stuff lol We've nto seen a single friggin benchmark so to say it's going to beat the 2080ti, it better beat it in every signle benchmark then is how I read that lol and that's not happening

Unfortunate.

Its a luxury item, nobody has me over a barrel, its not as if I need it for a life/death situation lol, its a gpu for crying out loud.

Sorry but these companies employ very clever people to foresee all these sort of issues and problems and to forecast how things will go and what might affect a new product being launched. They analyse and predict and hype it up and then are shocked at the demand. Covid has been around a while and was predicted to last for some time. I just cant believe these multi billion dollar companies could get it so wrong. As we know they hyped it all up hoping to create huge demand and then they are surprised! Nah, very poor, i think they knew what was going to happen and dont care about customers.

Their customers are the people who keep the company afloat, all businesses care about meeting consumer demand. Predictions about future demand are just that, they're predictions, you can hope your product will be recieved well but you never truly know for sure, you make estimates. I think you're taking it too personally, when people start asserting or insinuating that the business doesn't care, we've crossed into emotional territory. It's far more likely that they didn't estimate the demand correctly and that production isn't something you can change overnight, it takes months of re-tooling in which time customers are stewing in their own emotional juices getting mad. The reality is far more mundane and less emotionally loaded, production is hard and it takes time.

No need to be pedantic.

Well if you're happy handing over money months in advance for products that don't yet exist, more fool you. Retailers laugh at people like you.

LOL, just lol. Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything here. Yes, clearly I am happy to do so, otherwise I wouldn't have chosen to.

"Paper Launch" gets bandied about a lot here but I thought it referred to literally a launch on paper only, no stock for sale?
