**Nvidia G-Sync owners thread**

Different strokes for different folks. For faced paced FPS I can't see why you would choose GSYNC over ULMB assuming that you can maintain high frames.

If its a fast movement twitch shooter, ULMB would win out. If its a long range sniping style FPS though, gsync would, simply due to the lack of pixel crawl associated with tearing making targets easier to see.

I honestly struggle to tell the difference between ULMB on and off in BF4, but notice gsync on and off immediately.

It's supposed to be great from the people in my outfit or other people I know who play PS2 with G-Sync enabled.

Probably going to get the ROG Swift myself, as PlanetSide 2 is basically the only game I play at the moment :)

1440p with the 780Ti is a pleasure in Planetside 2, also it's my exclusive game. Would like to see one of these monitors in the wild running it but hard to come by.

Same! I am on an AMD build so will likely wait for freesync if they ever get around to it.

I would do a total nvidia switch though if AMD don't hurry up!

Game was built with nvidia tech at first with physx available but non existent for a year now. Given the imminent PS4 launch amd friendly code may well make its way in. Still an Intel/Nv dominant title, performance wise.

Fully agree. After allot of testing this weekend I won't be enabling gsync anytime soon. If you can maintain solid frames its not necessarily.

Decent information about ULMB can be found here: http://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/preview2/#ulmb

Apologies for detailing the thread.

I think most of us knew that was the case anyway, but thanks for the explanation and good info.

It has the capability to run as low as something like 9fps, however this then requires a display that will go as low as 9hz, this is what I gathered from one of the huddy videos anyhow.

In all likelihood it will run a similar range to gsync.

Interesting points on ULMB and something that I have used before to an extent with my Asus VG278H Lightboost monitor. It just makes everything less blurry and a very good addition to twitch games. The only downside for Lightboost was the bland colours.

Hi Greg,

Hope you don't mind me going off topic but i have just tried Lightboost on my ASUS VG278HE and on the UFO test looked very good but in BF4 i had major screen tearing?? i never play with Vsync but this was the only way to get rid of this tearing, without lightboost mod i never had any screen tearing issues.

I have my monitor set to 120Hz any ideas?

Can't say I ever noticed tearing bud but that's not to say it wasn't doing it. I will have a play later after work and see what is what.

Lightboost washes out the colours and isn't bright enough for me, it does produce a CRT like effect though which is nice for fast paced gaming.

On the newer BenQ monitors they include their own BenQ blur reduction which is meant to improve the colours and brightness.

ULMB is meant to be far better than both at retaining colours and brightness.

I'll probably just go for the ROG SWIFT in the end as I don't have the patience nor willpower to hold off on exciting new products.

When I tried Lightboost on mine Colours was fine it was the Brightness that was effected. While it did remove the blur a massive deal, I didn't think the trade of was worth it.

Shadows and dark areas was to much lit up for my liking, gives you a big advantage on BF4 or any FPS game though haa

In the end I just happy with 120hz reduced blur.

This image says it all for me. Gsync and do one :D same for Freesync unless this can also improve
No Sync will always be better, once you start ignoring screen tear it becomes less noticeable and you just enjoy the games, Lag, Stutter free gaming.

Well James has been using it months but you go off the opinion on someone who has used it for a day?

Better off taking it up with the person saying it, I only asked for his opinion.

Gsync/Freesync to have more lag than Vsync off? I always assumed that would be the case. Would be a welcome addition though if you want no tearing and reduced lag.

I thought it was always the case that Gsync isn't going to provide much benefit at triple digit frame rates?

I'd like to try ULMB but I'm not that bothered about it. I'll try the Lightboost trick on my BenQ and see how it feels. The colours are already atrocious on my BenQ (compared to my Dell) so any more colour degradation - which seems inevitable -then I think my eyes will bleed to death :D.

No harm in trying at least.

That's the impression i was under too Rusty. I've heard from several users that 40-60 is where you will notice it most and beyond that it is diminishing returns. Still i think that's good enough.
