That is Nvidia doing their job right. Release best card for silly money, milk people at the top, then some months down the line release same/similar performance for nearly half the price and watch people lose their **** thinking they are getting a bargain. We seen it happen many times now. I take my hat off to nvidia and their marketing department, they are so much better than AMDs, if AMD even have one. Lol

Seems an odd amount, I guess it's like this so it's perfectly in line with the Cuda Core count. Otherwise they would have to resort to a 970 3.5GB type situation to reach 12GB. They won't ever do that again.
The card looks really nice though, and if that price holds true in the UK, I would be tempted tbh. Damn you Nvidia, got me again xD

That's pretty much what I was thinking with the little tweak I gave it, For me the most interesting part is that the Ti is the full chip which suggests AMD may have a real TXP contender, Then again How many TXP owners are now going to go and buy a 1080ti? That might be why it has more cores, they know the enthusiast gamers that spent 1100+ on the Titan will now be clambering for a faster Ti. It also suggests that AMD won't be pricing Vega above what the Ti costs, For me it also shows how Nvidia was selling (milking) the 1080 as something it wasn't and they did that for almost a full year. I hope AMD can make Nvidia and Intel sales crash and burn this year and the next, It's a shame the average consumer hasn't got the gonad's to tell them we know what you've been doing to us and we're not happy about it.
I might grab one to play around with if that did happen.
I'm interested to see what gaming on my 3440x1440 75hz freesync monitor is like without an AMD card.
EDIT: So it's not the full chip then. Trusted reviews need to fix there graph. And Nvidia are pushing Founders out the door first so they can grab all the "I can't wait for the decent coolers" sales, And according to TR: "Generally, Founders Edition cards end up being cheaper than high-end third-party cards," That's the opposite to what Nvidia claimed when they first changed the name from Reference to Founders and added a premium for the honour of having a below par blower with Nvidia written on it. All I can say is the consumer reaps what he sows.

Totally agree, I bought a 1080 at launch and was underwhelmed because of the price I paid for it. I sold that on pretty quick and have been waiting for the real deal ever since. Looks like the Ti is a far better card and it's RRP is lower than 1080 at launch? Especially the Founders edition, that now it line with other vendor pricing. So this would be a much better buy for those that didn't jump on 1080, or those in waiting like myself.
Also Jay2Cents said, a refresh 'OC' version with new memory (Same as Ti) is coming to the 1080 line and possible 1060 too. So really this should shuffle prices well overall when they all roll out.

Looks like I'll be buying my first NVIDIA GPU soon, I mentioned a price drop on here just yesterday, but wasn't expecting the 1080ti to release at the 1080 price point.

Neither was most others here. Lol. The only reason it is not as attractive to us here in the UK is the value of the pound has tanked since the 1080 was released.

The card with all SM's enabled may come sooner rather than later, but NVIDIA as always like to play their hand when they need to.

Is this going to have any knock on effect on the prices of the 1080, 1070's?
When is the proper Nvidia refresh happening? I think I'm holding off for the following reasons:
1. See what Vega brings.
2. Not convinced current 10 series are true DX12 cards.
3. Prices for the 1070 are still higher than I am willing to pay.
4. My 970 is still actually doing the biz.

Haven't read up on the entire announcement but are you saying they've advertised the +35% as water cooled?
100mhz stock over an XP equates to a 6.6% rise. 135% performance over 125% is an 8% increase.
Not a million miles away from stock, but the boosts look similar which is what we're interested in.

Does it matter that much? I know some G-sync owners have reported issues when trying to run AMD cards on G-sync monitors but what's it like the other way around?
If I saw a 1080 or 1070 at the right price I'd be tempted to give it a go, all this waiting with no real news is driving me mad and it'd give me something to mess around with while I wait.
That's interesting, The value of a mark one GTX 1080 may take a bigger nose dive than anyone thinks in the coming months.
I am saying from what I recall the Titan XP clocks like **** on air and people who purchased one likely have it watercooled to get its true performance. Both watercooled the Titan XP will likely still be the faster card. Everything is superior on the Titan XP except for the memory speed.
