Yeah that seems a bit weird to me. I don't know why they would even with the bigger bus width than the 1080.

Fake
They are not going to use GDDR5 on any 1080 Ti when both the 1080 and Titan both use GDDR5X
Are you so sure? It is a good way to differentiate the 1080ti and titan P whilst still giving it more bandwith than the 1080 (courtesy of the bus)....
I think it is within the realms of possibility that they would go this way actually. Would make the 12gb onboard cheaper as well.
People are so desperate to see a 1080 Ti that they are not using logic.
If you are right then there would have been no point selling the 1080 and Pascal Titan with GDDR5X.
Well no, that's not true at all. A 1080 Ti with GDDR5 on a 384-bit bus would sit right between the 1080 and the Titan XP in terms of bandwidth, which is where Nvidia will want it. It's completely irrelevant whether the 1080 has "better" memory when it's crippled by a 256-bit bus. A 1080 Ti with 8GHz GDDR5 on a 384-bit bus will still run rings around it by any metric, which is all Nvidia will care about. And let's face it, they're a company that are willing to do anything to save a few dollars, as seen with the cut down 3GB 1060. I have no doubt whatsoever that they'd go with the cheapest option available to get them the performance profile that they're looking for.People are so desperate to see a 1080 Ti that they are not using logic.

Looking like a predictable 20% more performance than a 1080 and even more predictably will probably cost 60% more.
Volta is probably late 2017 at the earliest. Not gonna happen I don't think, Volta is too close.
How is this contemptuous? It's offering a product at a strategic time.*Waits patiently for Nvidia to pull this kinda stunt knowing that no one will believe they will do it, but hey were Nvidia we do what we damn well like for the dollar!!*
Wouldnt suprise me if Nvidia pulled something like this off, its the kinda contemptuous move they would pull on their loyal fanbase, sometimes i honestly think they are all sat laughing scheming up how far they can push their customers before they break lol.

Nvidia released the Titan Black earlier in the same year they later released Maxwell. So there's precedent for it.

If this uses 3rd party coolers, I'm guessing it'll get awfully close to Titan X in performance at its limits. And it will probably be reasonably cheaper. They could easily coincide it with AMD releasing Vega, with a price drop in the GTX1080 and slotting the 1080Ti around $700-750.
If anybody is actually a 'loyal' Nvidia customer, they'll have been well aware of the possibility of a 1080Ti at some point. Nobody is being 'pushed' here or treated badly.
NVidia are like the Ferengi when it comes to giving money away, it is not going to happen !!!!
There will be a 1080 Ti at some point when it suits NVidia and does not involve my first point.

Obviously, take with a pinch of salt, but interesting nonetheless. Frankly, I'm not too convinced. Why would you put in GDDR5 in a ti and have GDDR5x in the 1080 plain?
Anyway, thoughts?
I have no idea what you're trying to say here or how it relates to my comment, sorry.NVidia are like the Ferengi when it comes to giving money away, it is not going to happen !!!!

I get it's popular to paint Nvidia as greedy, and nobody is denying that their goal is to make more money(as any publicly traded company is), but what are you trying to say specifically? Do you have any specific details to mention regarding my points or is the best you can muster some generic 'Nvidia is greedy' comment without really qualifying it with anything specific? Cuz frankly, I find that kind of stuff here super boring and repetitive.
