**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Is there any indication on how much of a performance increase this card will have on a 1080, fps wise ? Not bothered for benching and I don't plan on upgrading but just curious to see the performance gain from 1080 to the ti versions :)

Basically just see 1080 vs TitanXP reviews as that will be close enough.

Should see nice performance at 4K with the extra memory bandwidth over the 1080, just what I need.

Which is why at the same overclock, a TitanX is 40% faster than a 1080 in certain games/resolutions/settings. The Ti should be the same. You shoudl in general see at least 20% and up to 40% in games.

Still doesnt get me more than 30 fps in Rise of the Tomb raider if I switch everything on though :(

You have a valid point, however, things need perspective. I play many games and frames are decent on my Gigabyte G1 1080 at 1440P but I still do get dips into 40s or even lower in some games (depending on settings of course). With a 1080Ti, it will allow me to have those extra settings and keep frames at a decent level. Not really a necessity but a nice thing to have. I also have a fund where I put money by from time to time to buy PC components and I work bloody hard for my money, so why shouldn't I or others buy what we like for our harmless enjoyment?

Wait... a 1080 can't handle 1440p at 60fps? Arer you sure? Cos by that, the 1080ti now looks much less impressive (and less capable of 4k60).

As I have said, assuming an overclocked Ti matches an overclocked TitanXP (mine is running at 2100 under water) then there are many games with all the settings maxxed out which dont run at 60 fps. Rise of the Tomb raider is 40 fps and dips to 30 fps for example. Witcher 3 is another which doesnt keep above 60 on max in 4k

We still dont have that magic card which can run every game at max 4k and keep above 60 fps. Of course dropping a few settings back form max and you can get 60 fps but if you are expecting a 1080ti to give you 60 fps in 4k at everything then you are going to be disappointed.

We wont have the magic 4k card until Volta Titan/Ti in 2018.

But it certainly will keep everygame above 60 fps in 1440p.

A 1080 can definitely handle 1440p@60. I've got dual 970s and the 1080 is faster than them (in most benchmarks). I've been running Witcher 3 and GTA V at 60 with max settings (except on W3 in some scenes where it's still very playable ~45). By my guess, the 1080ti will be capable of 4k60 at about the same level as the 1080 at 1440p (i.e. consistently). I suspect some of the less well-optimised games might force you to drop down a notch in graphics quality, though.

But by then there will be some other games that will punish enthusiast cards and bring them to their knees, no doubt about it! :D

I suspect it wont be that bad graphics wise as its the resolution which is the killer more than the features (except srupid motion blur which can cost you 20 fps in some games for worse quality image!) but by then we "should" have 100Hz 4k HDR screens and people will be wanting more than 60 fps, they will be itching for 100fps and there will be 5k and 8k screens starting to appear which again will only run at less than 30 fps even with a volta ti. ANd on and on it goes.

Well Tomb Raider cripples anything out there on max.

TitanX av framerate is only 29fps and drops to 18 in places.

Even my 2.1Ghz TitanX on max wont hold witcher 3 to 60 fps at 4k. Its staeady at 50 fps but you need another 20% performance to get the magic 60 fps. So you will need to dial back from the max in a lot of games even with the the 1080TI.
