**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Hi all, I have a pretty modest PC I bought in 2013...
Asus B85M-G
i5 4670
16GB DDR3 Ram

Ive been running a GTX 770 2GB ever since.

I have been thinking of upgrading the system to get a new GPU but heard that with 4k gaming (im not in if for FPS, i hook it up to an OLED HDR TV) the GPU is far more important than the CPU. I have ordered a 1080ti and im sure I wont be getting the full benefit of it with my current setup. My board can support a I7 4770 CPU, would that be a worthy upgrade? i dont fancy completely upgrading everything.

ordered a few minutes after launch, got charged 1e by digital river, but silence from then, order pending, no confirmation email etc. weak nvidia
They've done the opposite for me, I got the order received + order confirmation emails seconds after placing the order but they still haven't charged me.

If its anything like the TitanXP was it will go as follows.

Card charged
Hear nothing
See other people getting their cards
Still hear nothing
Come home to find box waiting.
Later that day get a dispatch email from Digital River telling you that your new card is on its way and you will get it in 2 to 3 days
Next day get an email with a Tracking number on it which shows you received your item the day before.

They are bloody useless and the majority of Titan buyers got their cards before they knew they had being dispatched. I can only remember one guy saying he got his dispatch email about an hour before it turned up.

An i7 will be a decent upgrade from the i5 due to the hyperthreading assistance you'll have. If you sell the i5 chip on, then the upgrade will only be between £50-100 cost to you.

Your current CPU is absolutely fine. Upgrading to an i7 will only make a little difference in games which use hyperthreading such as Battlefield 1. Save your money and get a new mother board and CPU in a year or two. Upgrading from 770 to 1080ti will be an astronomical difference, games will look amazing on your tv. Enjoy.

If you can budget a 4790K that would be best as even without overclocking it has a very high stock clock. Your motherboard might even allow it to run at 4.4Ghz on all cores.

Shame there was no brucie bonus of a 2nd titan turning up accidentally :p

Thats how you should always do it. Either go 80>80>80 or Ti>Ti>Ti or Titan>Titan>Titan as each normally a 50% gain so you notice a differerence.

Yup that's how I've ended up going since switching back to Nvidia, 780t sli to 980ti and now 1080ti when it arrives. The jumps between aren't enough to warrant the cost for me.

Called their store support, apparently they cant finish the order because their system doesn't know what to do with my address and suggested to reorder. Nice one nfaildia and digital river of hemorrhoids. When can we expect cards in the overclockers store to ship? :D
