**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Swapped over for the Gigabyte G1. Love how cool and quiet my G1 1080 is, so felt it wise to go with that. Not overclocking nowadays, so quiet gaming is a must.

I really like the look of the G1, it is even better looking than the higher end card Gigabyte are doing.

I don't really like the glossy black look.

Am interested to see how much quieter the 3 fan solution is over the 980ti as this will be the 3rd (4th?) Generation of Windforce cooler.

Only possible use I can think of for a 1080ti and 1080p is for esport 240hz

I have frontal lobe migraines caused by games running higher than 1080p without the correct level of font scaling. For this reason I run in 1080p in almost all of my games with a 2x super-sample.

Sad but true. My brain does not allow me to use Nvidia ULMB either.

What about just getting a larger screen? I have a 40 inch at 4K for example which scales great with fonts.

Sounds like you just need to buy a bigger display. Possibly a 32" 1440p.

Using 4k. I dont get people getting a TI and using it on 1080p.... :)

Why? Some people might have a 144Hz or even 240Hz monitor and in those games. Even at 1440p to get consistent frames over 60fps the 1080Ti is needed. Then add in the next round of games that will push that hardware further again.

There are plenty of reasons to get a Ti and still be on other resolutions than 4K.

Not really meant for 1080p. Even a 980Ti would push near those frames at 1080p.

Not much gain over 144hz either. Even at 200hz the ghosting is unbearable never mind 240hz.

Plus you then have things like bottlenecking etc trying to push that many frames at the lower resolution.

Dude you have miss understood me. I was only referring to 1080p. I think the sweet spot is actually 1440p for the 1080 and 1080ti as you say the future titles will push hardware even more but what we are seeing in plenty of benchmarks is CPU bottle neck.

Unless you have money to burn the price per frame past the much cheaper 1080 at 1080p res is just not worth the extra cost.

I have thought about the options, I run 2560-by-1600 on my 13inch macbook pro all day long. I have done 12 hours on it during long-haul flights and not a single headache, never mind a 48 hour migraine. In the correct lighting conditions, it still is (IMHO) the best display/OS scaling combination available.

At 1440p Windows 10 OS 225% text scaling is also fine but for games like Elite Dangerous which has better than most UI scaling, is still not great and it just kills me brain....

I currently run a 27inch Eizo 144hz IPS which I just don't have the heart to bin-off.

Not sure that is true, the system I am on at moment has a 980Ti in it and that certainly doesn't push to 144Hz in a good number of modern games at 1080p when you have settings maxed out.

And I have personally never seen any ghosting issues on the 240Hz monitors during play I have had on them.

The CPU bottleneck is indeed an issue if you are not careful with selecting the correct components but then that comes with pairing the 1080Ti with the right CPU to the res & refresh rate you are aiming for.

What is odd and people don't often think about is for 4K you can actually use a lower quality CPU than you can at 1440p when your chasing frames at those resolutions because of the obvious GPU bottleneck.

Sorry to hear that buddy
That don't sound nice at all

Which of course is 0.0000001 of the gaming population.

I know it's a small percentile but it's still relevant m8
Was just saying that there are still uses at 1080p for it

I personally wouldn't bother tbh

Yeah and at 1080p at 144Hz you would need it in some really badly optimised titles. Yeah not ideal to need to use pure grunt to get over it but that is down to each person. Further tot hat as said at the 240Hz level then you really do need the power even on well optimised games as although you are likely to be CPU limited at this point you want to be aiming as close as possible.

No miss understanding just don't agree that at 1080p that they are wasted, it is all down to the user and some other variables than pure resolution though.

But yes 1440p actually to be more precise after seeing it in flesh the other day then 2.4:1 37.5" 3880x1600p is my personal sweetspot. It looked amazing, more so than the 4k monitor I am using now, it offers amazing real-estate.

Second would be a 2560x1440p 144Hz monitor at this time for me. It isn't quite there and I am holding out for the previous mentioned spec with 144Hz to grab my next screen.

I've been 3 weeks now, without a gpu (sold my GTX 1080). I am so tempted to grab an FE 1080 Ti now, as I can see there's plenty in stock.
I am running on air so should I just hold out a little longer for a custom card?
I hate being patient.

If you are planning on running on air I would hold off for a custom cooled card.
