**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

That's not even bad iMO. Put the side case back on and not have your face or mic right up the cards ass then listen. You'll probably barely hear it. At the end of the video when the phone is about half a meter away from the case u only just hear it. Put the side case on and you would have to actually listen for it. Mine sounded slightly worse than that when i fit my EK block on mine but after benching stock clocks vs overclock clocks to see the performance difference in benches and games it actually died down a lot to where i can only hear it with the side case off and my face up next to it.

That in the video i would not consider intrusive. When the fans spin up i bet they make more noise.
your joking right? its way loud even when he moves away. you must be deaf!

It is bad at least for me. Microphone is not that sensitive. It was recorded on iPhone. Of course you wont hear it on video when I moved from PC but In reality it is loud :( I tested with casing closed, with more Rpm on fans and Headphones on. And it is still noticable a lot. Yes my rig is on the table next to the monitor but it was there before anyway and clearly said with my previous GPU's it was very quiet. I have certain expectation from component over £800.

I found my iPhone very poor for picking up coil whine compared to my camera.

All I can say is my coil whine died down a huge amount but it took about 3-4 weeks of use for it to happen.

OK, so I think I've "narrowed" my choices down to either the Asus Strix OC, EVGA SC2, EVGA FTW3 or EVGA SC2 Hybrid.

The Strix isn't in stock which is annoying as it is very tempting.
The nice thing about the other 3 is that they're only 2 slot so leave the possibility of SLI open down the line (when prices drop), especially the SC2 Hybrid.

It is available on other websites.

If you intend to SLi in the future then def go Hybrid, helps LOTS with temps.

Interesting. I bought my previous 1080 ti (msi gaminx x) from S..n and had to RMA due coil whine. Everything went smooth.

That's a shame and in my opinion I would RMA again. I have an Msi gaming x and the coil whine is no where near as bad as that is even at unlimited fps.

And I agree with your above comments, you shouldnt need to try mask a sound that shouldn't be there in the first place.

I would always urge you to try it in another system if you can. I've known people swap boards and coil whine disappear. And ensure it is definitely coming from the card rather than the PSU itself.

you always have the choice to go through the place you bought from - they have 28 days to resolve the issue or say if you pay by credit card you could apply for a refund

Yeah but OcUK have the Turbo warranty thing with Asus don't they?

I was thinking that. The AIO thing was one of the things I liked about the Fury X and while I don't think this is quite at the same level as the Fury X AIO it still seems like it could be nice.
Not sure if the AIO helps in anyway with clock speeds does it?

No it's not bad because i can hear case fans and gpu fans?, the GPU fans don't even seem to be spinning much so its a game that doesn't stress it but runs at high FPS. Probably a game menu. Mine sounded worse than that but has worn off. It's probably been shown at high FPS which most cards exhibit this coil whine at high FPS. Put the side case back on and then record because that's normal use. taking the side case off and putting the microphone right upto the gpu and probably playing at game at high FPS is showing it at its worst. So i know its not that bad. Yea it can be annoying but your actively seeking for it tbh. And the microphone is fine because i can here clicks which sound really loud from the mouse.

Actually in testing we found a solid 24-48hrs are looping a benchmark like heaven can help a lot and give you what would take a few weeks in a couple of days.
I can second this. I spent a whole day benching my card after putting my block on. At first it was noticeable but after benching at stock clocks then overclocking and finding that sweet spot where the performance was i noticed the coil whine had noticeably died down. Now i can't even hear it. But i only ever heard it with my side case panel off and it was worse than what was in that video.

This is correct and like all things new there is a running in period. However in some cases it does not help, some cards are just screamers. :D
