**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Hi all,

I finally got hold of my Zotac Amp Extreme 1080Ti. Fired up firestorm to fiddle with the lights and the spectre tab is greyed out.

Have I got one of the cards that wasn't put together right??? :(

EDIT:- There is default lighting that is blue with the breathe effect running. Want it solid white :p

EDIT 2:- Reddit says card sag means it doesn't sit tight in slot. Need to wrap the 8 pin cables round it and have them hold card tight in slot to get lights to work - lol - is this a joke?

Did you use cd that was in box for instaling firestorm driver ? If you did. Just go to zotac support download section and get latest 'firestorm driver from there..

And yes card is little bit heavy.. but you can always put something under it ;)

Hey brother - thanks for the reply, appreciated.

I did install the Firestorm from the CD but d/l'ed and installed the latest Firestorm, which when run has no option listed anyplace for spectre. Hmmm... I'll keep messing around and see what happens. Thanks again.

EDIT:- found another Firestorm download - this one allows spectre colour change! They don't make it easy. Thx so much brother!

No problem bro

Any coil whine from your sample?

Nope, none. Every game runs noticeably better than with my 980Ti @3440x1440. Only game causing me issues is Mass Effect Andromeda... at max everything, it crashes with a DX low memory error. I doubt its the card.

EDIT:- letting windows control my pagefile seems to have fixed the issue. I didn't think a pagefile would be an issue on an 1TB SDD with tonnes of space.

Anyway - game running at max EVERYTHING, 3440x1440... I cannot believe i'm getting 60+ fps constantly (cutscenes don't count :p)

What a BEAST of a card! Well worth the 8 weeks of pre-order! :D

looking at results for FT3

http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreview...w3-review-vs-sc2-gaming-x-xtreme-aorus/page-2

seems its louder then the rest but can handle cooling being 2 slots. Wondering if having VRM not 100% directly attached to the Main heatsink really helps with a low core temp as shown by Gaming X and FTW3 over the Aorus.
but seeing the Aorus 3x100 and Gaming X 2x100mm really does do a silent job compared to the FTW3 which can be even louder then the FE...ouch

wondering if they switched to 2.5 slot they could have brought the sound down? im guessing a fan redesign would happen more over this in the next Gen cards

Just Been looking around their are some pretty big price drops on 1080Ti`s Gigabyte for example perhaps AMD do have something to offer with the new cards or Gibbo needs few more coffee's to get going :p

Just when I narrowed my choices down to the Asus Strix OC or the EVGA SC2 Hybrid I see the price drop on the Gigabyte Aorus Extreme...
Is the Gigabyte any good?
Is the Strix Worth the extra £50?
Is the Hybrid worth £90 more?

I just dislike coolers that are bigger than 2 slots (in case I want SLI).

Bit late to the party, but oh well. This is one cool looking card. The coil whine was atrocious when I first put it under load, but after about 30 min of Heaven benchmark, it has died down considerably.

Main thing is though I get a position on the roll of honour, yay!

One more thing. Is there any point in reinstalling the drivers when I install the card. My previous card was a 1080 running the latest nvidia drivers.

Mine always works after a cold boot if it gets greyed out, only seems to stop working after opening firestorm a few times. I don't really mind as once you've set it then its not something you really change.

Looks like the Strix is the coolest out the box. Excited to install mine tomorrow! :D

That video is completely misleading.

For one, the ROG Strix forbid warranty removal while EVGA supports it.

The entire video was set to compare the cooling capacity of the various coolers and then jump to the conclusion of that the Strix is the best in that price range without considering other factors.

Yes just instal latest driver again after you put card inside...

Thanks for the reply. After an extra couple hours of research (was up until nearly 4am this morning looking at reviews). For the sake of £15 between the Armor and the Gaming X I just went for the Gaming X in the end. Got it for £710 from Very and I have 12 months to pay it off. As long as I pay it off before May next year I don't get charged any interest. Coming on Tuesday I can't wait.

Wise decision, hope you enjoy it.
