**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Personally I can see the 1080ti being 20% faster than the 1080 and 20% or 30% more money (the price difference goes up exponentially as you get near the fastest card).

Unless you really need that extra 20% its probably worth either waiting until the pascal refresh later this year or until Volta next year. Volta according to the Nvidia roadmap graphs should offer 50% performance boost over Pascal and will be a major leap. Only time will tell if Nvidia can deliver.

I certainly wouldnt be taking a hit on selling a 1080 to swap to a 1080ti.

£850 minimum for me. I was told $300+ 1080, but with £ rate, that would bring it right band on the Titans shoulder . I know nvidia does price on region too much, I think they might have to consider it a bit more with the UK now. Specially with AMD

Doubt it. To world sales the Uk market wont be that big plus if they drop it by £100 or even £200 in the UK, people would just buy them from abroad from here.

The 1080ti is like Schrodingers card. It's coming. We all know it's coming but at the same time it's not, because nothing has been announced yet.

That literally makes no sense and has no relation to Schrödinger's cat theory lol!

On a separate note, it would seem a bit daft for anyone to jump on the 1080Ti without waiting to see what AMD offer up with VEGA, even if they plan to stay on the green team regardless. If AMD catch Nvidia napping like they have Intel with Ryzen, it may shake things up a bit regards pricing at the very least. Still much unknown about VEGA yet, but perhaps the event on the 28th will give us more to go on. I'm very much on the fence, owning a G-Sync monitor but would certainly consider selling that and going Freesync if VEGA brings the right performance at the right price.

I have a sneaking suspicion come Feb 28th that Nvidia will set the bar (with faster AIB cards to follow) and AMD will 'suggest but not confirm' that bar is surmountable but we'll have to wait another 3 months to see. I'm open to either card tbh but I do need to make a purchasing decision soon so I'm really hoping for some RRP pricing on Vega along with Dx11 benchmarks. This round is for AMD to win or loose imho I think Nvidia will hold its current path regardless only the timing window will they shift on.

We know the 1080ti is coming, much like we know there is a cat in the box. However we don't KNOW that it's coming, and it hasn't been announced, therefore the card is both coming and not coming, much like the cat is both alive and dead.

Yes but I think the quantum analogy here is we don't know whether the cat (GPU hardware) is dead or not until the box is opened i.e. how fast is the 1080Ti and what is the price/performance of Vega

LOL, exactly, we KNOW it's coming, there is no doubt about this... there is no question, no theory and no unknown in respect to its arrival. It's just not here yet. It's like waiting for a bus. It's not a thought experiment, a paradox or in any way relatable to quantum mechanics.

Playing the Ghost Recon Beta on my 970 and it reminds me that my GPU is getting on a bit. I can't even max the game at 1080p to get 60fps (settings need to be turned down)... or is the game just badly coded?

Thus I'm looking to upgrade soon. If the 1080ti can get 60fps at 4k in this game... well I'll still wait for Vega to see what AMD's attempt is and then when the dust clears, I'll buy the winner. If there even is one.

At 3440x1440 and ultra settings with aa turned down to 2 im getting 60 fps on the ghosts beta just for your info :)

As for the 1080 ti im going to reesist until xmas to try and stop my upgrade craze just because its the latest and greatest, think i need a clinic to help me get off my usual doseage :)

What GPU? It's not in your sig mate. Speaking of which, my brother tried the game today on his RX 480... this is another game gimped on AMD and gimped hard. He only gets around 30ish FPS, regardless of settings and the GPU usage ranges from 20% to 60%. At least for me, it was aways above 90%. AMD users got screwed hard by that game.

Anyhows, I'm just looking for something that will be able to do me 60fps at 4k for a long while. If it ever does slightly worse I can always fall back to 1440p, which is the native resolution of my monitor. The itch to upgrade is strong, but I've been managing to hold off. I literally did give in to a 980ti, but the GPU being out of stock saved me there.

appologies, 1080 ocd to 2086 core, small oc on the gpu ram as well.
