I really can't follow you're rational in the slightest. The 20 series was RT beta testing generation and paying for Nvidia's R&D. The bump in performance this gen was to account for that. The 3080Ti is just a straight money grab. Some execs read the market and realized they have a license to print money right now.
3070 vs 3080 = 1440P 20% AVG FPS increase - 4K 25% AVG FPS increase. €200 difference. Roughly €10 per %
3080 vs 3080ti = 10/12% - 4K 10/12% = €500 difference. Roughly €50 per %
If it wasn't for the current unprecedented stock shortages, Nvidia would get ridiculed to oblivion for this utter irrelevance of a GPU. I expect they won't even bother churning out any more 3080's even if they could.
Pretty sure that's the point.
