NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Managed to bag an evga 970 in the black Friday deal, very happy! Can someone please remind me how the free game deal works, does the code come in an email, on the delivery invoice or in the box?

i got an email with a link but seen some ppl saying that thiers was in the order history after dispatch on ocuk.
 
Well I ordered 2nd MSI GTX 970 :). Did think about 2 of the OcUK reference cooler cards but the cost would be way more. £320x2 instead of £265. Not to mention the £ I would have lost selling my 1st MSI card on MM.

Bring on Farcry 4... and then GTAV... and then Witcher 3... :)
 
Just bought a 970 and K70 keyboard off the black friday section, what am I best off upgrading next? Is my cpu okay? I don't think my mobo supports SLI so maybe that.

i5-3570k @ 4.4ghz, Asus P8Z77-V LX, Corsair 16GB 1600mhz, GeForce GTX 970 EX OC "Black Edition, Samsung SSD 840 230GB, 2TB HDD, Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red, Roccat Kone XTD, BenQ XL2411T
 
Well all depends on settings really. It can perform just fine if you lower a few settings like anti-aliasing. If you want to max the latest games then I don't think 1 will be enough to hit 60FPS all the time.
 
I've been hearing good things about Galax but I've honestly never heard of them, how good are they compared to the bigger brands like Evga, Gigabyte, Asus etc? The Galax Black Edition looks like a steal at £260 but as I said, I've just never heard of them.
 
Got the Galax 970 yesterday and like you I hadn't heard of them and the pictures made it look a bit tacky and cheap looking. So was a bit worried. Looked into Galax and saw as Flying Hellfish says they are just KFA and Galaxy merged under one name.

On a plus note, the card looks really nice and good quality in person.

It's doesn't perform too badly either.
 
Hi guys I have a msi gtx970 and when running games at 4k and ultra settings my temp is about 60-70 degrees. Are these temps ok?
 
60-70c is fine, if you want you can use a custom fan profile to maybe bring temps down a bit. Trade off is a bit more noise though.

prepare to be disappointed with far cry 4 , game is a stuttering mess with sli .. currently run it in single gpu as its smoother.
