NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Getting a bit cramped :). And dusty. Poor little TV card going to be cooked alive. Not really. Only played a bit but 72° hottest card so far. I expect 75 ish after a long time gaming.

:D I did after I took the pic.

Newer card has Hynix memory not Samsung. Also the newer card has a slightly older BIOS than the latest I flashed onto 1st card, but they both have the fan spinning fixed. Newer card has boost clock 1329MHz compared to 1316MHz of 1st card. Not done any overclocking of the new card yet, might not bother, running both at stock for now.

Just a quick question to all the 970 owners! Ive had my Asus 'Strix' for about 3 weeks now and have noticed fairly bad stuttering / frame drops? I didnt think much of it at first but as it still keeps happening I thought Id google it, which I now understand seems to be a fairly common problem.

Seems the plan is to wait for a driver update, is anyone here having problems?

Which bios did you use - for some reason my MSI 970 is suddenly having fan spin down issues - i.e. the second spin not spinning down after gaming :( - was perfectly fine before

I had my Strix for a little over a month and haven't noticed anything like that, except in Far Cry 4 which is still somewhat broken (GJ, Ponysoft). Are you sure your card is the culprit behind the slowdowns/frame skipping? Doesn't really seem like a widespread occurence. There might be something else acting up and interfering with your games.

Edit: Does the stuttering happen in all games?

I have ordered an MSI GTX 970 from OcUk.

Curious as to whether I will recieve a mouse matt or not since I have seen lots of debate regarding this depending on where you are location.

Could anyone clear this one up for me.

You won't get a mouse mat, was just for the first few cards.

I downloaded Live Update 6 from the MSI website and used that to update to the latest VBIOS.

Very happy with myMSI card - I've got the GPU and Memory OC'd by a few hundred MHz in Afterburner IIRC (not at home right now) with a few mV extra and it hasn't crashed. Haven't really tried pushing it any more yet and not sure if I want to as the temps max out at 61*C right now.

Need to do some proper stress testing... Will get screenies later as I could do with a bit of advice.

Card firmly seated in PCI-E slot? Power cables fully connected at PSU and graphics card? Any fans spinning or beeps from PC?

You call that cramped? :D

Think I need a new case for Christmas...

I think my sound card, graphics card, TV card, and 2nd graphics card trumps your 1 tiny little graphics card :).

After doing a little more googling, the fix seems to be using adaptive V-sync rather that just V-sync. There are some you tube vids of the lag spike with 970s, although Im sure they'll get fixed with driver updates. thx for your help.

Just ordered 2x Windforce OC cards. Hoping they will be okay in slots next to each other. Had to avoid the Galax as the back plates heat up and screw the other cards temps.

Should be a good upgrade from the 670s
