Hi all, didn't want to start a new thread so hopefully it's fine to post in here.
New PC build taking shape, going to go with 2x970s , and wasn't sure which brand to pick.

Every graphics card I've owned has had memory corruption or overheating issues, so I'm going for a well known brand this time.

I was looking at:

Any comments?
Is one going to perform better than the other? Overclock better? Will the single-fan OCUK model cope with the heat under an overclocked load?
Also can I run them on a 850 watt PSU? The internet suggests that I can but I just wanted to check.

It depends on your motherboard and the space between the cards.
I get 70c at full load on my right card (Silverstone raven 3 case) so I guess your looking at the same sort of temps. The msi from what I have seen and read will overclock better and will be quieter. I own 2 msi 970s great cards and are pretty quiet under load. Also running a 4700k on a 650w power supply so your 850w should be more than enough

pretty much yes to all the questions on the ocuk reference 970 sli setup, overclocks fine, no whine with the benifit of exhuasting the heat out of the case, but its down to the individual to decide if its worth the extra cost, for me it was as i prefer the blower cooler for dual cards and they look the muts nuts also

No gap, good old x58. My 670s are next to each other and are okay. My worry is if there is a backplate on the card in slot 2it'll heat up and screw the card in slot 1. I have this problem with my 670s as one has a backplate and the other doesn't. One way around is fine and the other they throttle!

I'm expecting 80+ but want to avoid any throttling. Fingers crossed.

You should get a bit more out of it. Only way to know for sure is to keep bumping it up and testing in game.

I'd have thought so. You haven't even increased the power limit yet? To give you an idea these are the settings I'm running and I'm boosting to about 1530mhz with no issues.

Question: I am fairly close to your clock frequency. However, does it necessary need extra voltage and power? or is that for the more demanding memory power usage? (you got about double my memory OC)

Make sure Vsync isn't being used. Also double check the 3d settings for v-sync in the Nvidia control panel.

It does for the last little bit. Without the voltage bump I can get the core clock to +150 and the memory exactly the same as long as I have the 110% power limit.

To be honest though the only difference I see with the voltage bump on / off is that the fans spin a little bit quicker. If it weren't for the readout in afterburner I doubt I would even have noticed that though.

V sync is off. No matter what I overclock I always get 57.3 in valley benchmark

Possibly - is your monitor input set to auto? Try setting it fixed to DP. You may find that the monitor is simply scanning the inputs until it finds an active one and by that point windows has already booted up.

There seems to be quite a few people experiencing the same thing as me, I will have to try rolling back the drivers to 344.48 tomorrow.

Well, as I said, I don't really recall anything like that happening except in FC4 which is broken (though I still got rid of most of the stuttering by following some guides). Shadow of Mordor ran absolutely flawlessly but I found a place where, if you stand close to the wall and aim the camera at a specific angle, the FPS drop to 30;p It was bloody disappointing;p Might just be some bad coding though. Crysis 3 was all right, the fps dropped to about 48 occasionally but that's pretty normal.

I can't really think of game which would exhibit such a behaviour. Maybe NFS Rivals but that load of pony just feels slightly laggy/stuttery in general.

I'll look into it when I have the time. Haven't launched anything for over a week as I kinda got bored of playing games. Happens quite frequently for me;p
