NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Still very much enjoying my MSI card at the moment. Hasn't seemed to struggle with anything I have thrown at it recently.

Toying with the idea of getting the water block for it. Pointless yes but it would be more about the option of adding a back plate later on and aesthetics really.

I've got two 360 radiators cooling just the CPU at the moment which is a huge waste. Might as well make use of that extra radiator space.

just received 970 msi 71 asic not sure if good? atm 1500 mhz core, memory still at stock , stock voltage 1218mv

small coil wine when heaven exiting menu pulling 6000 fps not fussed about it as all cards had it .

looks to be cracking card will continue clocking after lunch .

What's the best overclock anyone here managed to achieve with the OCUK Reference design GTX 970?

Slightly behind Old Gamer but I havent tried to push it too much yet.
I boost at 1451mhz core and 1820mhz memory on stock volts.
Thats from a core of 1050mhz so not too shabby.

SLI too.

I have the Inno3D OC (I went cheap haha)

Not tried any OC'ing yet but might dabble with it over the holiday. Do not know how to but will look into it. I do not want to flash the bios though!

Has anyone here got the Inno 970? It is rather short!

Download MSI afterburner and most 970s can do +300 memory and +100 core quite easily.

Actually I own 3x Gainward GTX 970. 2x MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G - these cards are in my primary rigs. Then for test/benchmarks/reviews I got Palit GTX 970 Jetstream, Asus GTX 970 STRIX, Zotac GTX 970 all to use in my open testbed/review machinery
Total of 8 GTX 970's :D

Which ones your favourite?

how do you rate the Strix?

I did have, and it was a good clocker (boost to 1500mhz no sweat)

BUT it broke and I had to RMA it. It is also EXTREMELY noisy because the cooling is inadequate, IMO. So you have a trade off of perf vs noise with this one.

Switched out to an MSI 4G with SLI to come.

With the same settings I have just pulled 110 fps on a pair of gigabyte windforce (non G1) clocked at 1480 on the core (memory at stock - have a go at that next)

I have the second card in a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot so probably half the bandwidth of yours, doesn't seem to be an issue though.

I have a Xeon 5670 at 4.2ghz so get your CPU ramped up!

Great cards these. What should I be aiming for on the memory side?

Memory straight in at +500 and core at 1.5ghz boost gives me 116 fps at those settings.

70c and 59c on the two cards on standard fan profile

Nice!

Hi,

Not sure what you mean by bench score, assuming you mean Heaven I got 110fps with the core at 1.5ghz and that then went up to 116fps when I added the +500 memory overclock.

Something really interesting happened though. I only got 93fps at stock and it was a bit jumpy. When I clocked to +150 the FPS went up a bit but it still felt pretty bad. When I went to +200 it wasn't stable so I put the VCore up by +40mV. All of a sudden it was silky smooth and ran much better.

I read somewhere about voltage issues on the second card in SLI, I wonder whether that's what I had and putting a voltage offset on has somehow resolved it?

Either way if you are on stock core voltage try putting just +10 mV on the core and see if anything happens... ?

Not sure what you mean by bench score,

The line right under FPS in the result? :p

I don't have greatest of clockers (can bench at about 1478, stable at about 1455) and my best score was 2841 which would only put me at 53rd in the Heaven benchmark 2 GPUs thread

1.5ghz on the core, +500 on the mem (2000?) scored 2990 at 116fps

And it shows my CPU as "2.93ghz (4200mhz) x6" - sure you're not at stock?
