NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

I've moved from my two 970's to two 8Gb 290x's and I'm really not liking them.
I'm pretty sure it's the temperatures but I can't seem to cure it.
Other than buying a new case, which I can't guarantee will cure it, then I think I'm in for a stuttering few months of gaming :(

You had the same issues as me when I had 290s before my 970.

Out of interest why did you go with two 290s and not a single 980?

The difference between the 980 and the 290x's is very, very noticable in the Tombraider benchmark. Her hair and the shadows from her hair were massively better with the 980. As they were with my dual 970's.
I think it scores about 13 fps less than the dual 290x's at 1440p but it's much smoother.

Bit of a silly question as my other graphics card only needed 1 8pin connector

just bought a KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 "Hall of Fame Edition and have a question about the power connectors i will be using.

off my power supply cx750m i have a cable with 6 to 8 pin and on the same cable another 6 pin to 8 pin. As the kfa2 needs a 6 pin and an 8 pin can i put both from one cable into both slots on the graphics card or do i need two separate cables to power it.

Two separate cables are best.

just got my gtx 970 kfa2 hof card and it looks fantastic. My only problem is that i still have coil whine. I have had 2 asus strix cards from another retailer with coil whine and i thought i would try a different card but i still have it. Is it just bad luck or could it be something with my system. Psu is a cx750m cpu is intel i5 4690k motherboard is a gigabyte z97x gaming 3.

must say that when playing battlefield 4 is fine no coil whine at all, but when playing dying light its really bad.

Just built a WC loop, looking to add my 970 just because 'why not'.Not plannaing on getting a 970 block, but a universal block like the EK thermosphere.Wanting to know what 970 backplate would be compatible with this block?

Im planning on getting the backplate first(my card has sag atm :( )

Edit:Should point out its the MSI 970 i have

Bump

Also i have another more complicated issue i could use some help with, looking to mod my bios for a few reasons

1.Remove the minor throttle that kicks in at 67/68c
2.Bake in my boost/memclock OC
3.Maybe up the overall powerlimt

Im a bit confused by some of the tweaker settings.Heres what i came up with so far,by extracting my Original bios and changing some values(84.04.1f.00.F1 ,day1 MSI 4G bios)

http://http://www.mediafire.com/download/2ea6dx8w29ao7tm/New+970+bios.zip

Boost clock should be 1531mhz
Mem should be 7610mhz
voltage 1.225v

I have no idea what to change in the Power tab tho

Can some1 have a look at help me out

I would imagine most mate, there's only 4 screw points that attach the thermosphere.

I have fitted one to a 970 infinite black and there is no issue with the back plate whatsoever.

in a bit of a pickle:

3 choices:
1) asus itx 970
(i have a sff 450w silverstone modular psu, and possibly looking at a small case in the future, so size limiting)

2) any other 970 (cheaper, and ignoring size)
3) or a 980. (go all out, my psu can run it fine)

I'll be ordering the acer gsync 1080p monitor at the same time and will want to play stuff in 3d in the near future, while my tv will be plugged in too (also 1080p and 3d) for sofa gaming.

The whole ram thing on the 970 is that little voice in the back of my head saying just get a 980, future proofing my system more so. (now i can upgrade bios to support new cpu's)

Help ocuk!

I think it comes down to cash. The 970 is a fantastic card at 1080p.

However if your looking to push your system that little harder by running 3D as well and you dont mind spending upwards of £400 on a GPU, then get the 980.
