NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Anyone have any experience with the KFA2 Infin8? I'll be picking up a 970 tomorrow and I'm torn between the Gigabyte G1 and the Infin8.

I'm definitely looking for some nice overclocking headroom. Is the KFA2 cooler up to the task? How about power limit?

I'm not sure on the difference between the KFA 2 and the Infin8 version, but the 980 was terrible. Both the Gigabyte G1 and the EVGA are very good brands.

Oh no really? I was almost dead set on the Infin8 too. Not being one of the big players means there's almost no reviews or experiences I read so it feels a bit of a gamble.

Either the EVGA or the Gigabyte G1, both you will be pleased with...

As regards to the EVGA, it has 3 year warranty upgradable online for free up to 5 years! Not just that, the awesome step up program and bios flash support via ocuk members :p Oh and you can upgrade the cooler or go water cooling without voiding your warranty

Prince Nelson:
I own the Infinin8 Black Ed and highly recommend it. kitguru review is what swayed me. There have been people complain about coil whine with it but there are plenty of positive reviews on the product page as well as the gaurantee which means you can send it back if it whines with a decent (80+ Gold rated) PSU.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply mate. What is the cooler like? Of course Gigabyte has the tried and tested Windforce cooler. Is it loud when you ramp things up and does it keep things cool?

Never heard it and compared to my 7950 it replaced its whisper quiet. It does shut off one fan when not under load. The remaining fan can't be heard even when my ears next to it, though I could be a bit deaf haha

Going pick up a infin8 on Friday, hopefully ill get no coil whine as ive seen more positive than negative comments about the card, if I do get coil whine luckily OcUK isnt to far from me.

Been oooing and ahhhing over past day or so as you can tell by my posts but my mind is finally made up :D

You probably won't unless you exceed 3.5gb of vram in-game.

Also depends on how the game engine uses VRAM, I play BF4 @4k and regularly go into 3.8GB Vram territory with no frame rate issues.

..similar with Crysis 3.

Maybe there are some games out there that do suffer once you go over 3.5GB but I've yet to play one.

If you click the 'awards' tab on the Infin8 page there's links to some reviews. In some of the benchmarks the card performs 5fps slower than the Asus Strixx despite having higher clocks. I guess the more expensive components used by the heavy hitters do make a difference, not just the core speeds.

I think I might go for the Gigabyte G1. Feels a bit more tried and tested if you know what I mean.
