Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Has anyone had this error before? I seem to get it when I play Battlefield 4 after a couple of rounds and then I need to restart the computer to get it working otherwise I just keep getting the same crash and error message.

Would this bios be ok for my Evga 980SC card - or not. Is this bios good for better overclock? Don't want to just dive in and try it until I checked. Would be very grateful for your help.

Mark

It's a SC bios so I wouldn't bother unless you have a problem with DP. I haven't had a chance to compare the versions, there may be other minor tweaks but they're not going to do anything to improve your overclock.

If you've got DP issues and you're in any doubt ask EVGA support and they'll send you the bios and a tool to update.

Two options here, up the volts or reduce the clocks. If you up the volts do it is small stages. Eg 5mv (pick your own number). And remember that with volts the temperature will increase, so counter that with a more aggressive fan profile.

What are you currently clocked at?

Have you got a better bios for the sc for overclocking - would be nice, being held back by volts, and vrel at the moment. Have no problem with DP btw.

Cheers

+255 and +350 with core voltage at +10 in Afterburner so far it seems stable doing the Dragon Age Inquisition benchmark which was crashing last night.

Does that seem ok so far?

Just got my 980 in the post and slammed it in (carefully of course)

Wired graphics problem and i'll try to describe it the best i can, it runs at a high frame rate but every half second it 'pauses' for a faction of a second, smooth then pause, smooth then pause, smooth then pause. What is this? It's at stock

I've submitted a Support Ticket to EVGA with a couple of questions.

1) Why are the volts so low on the FTW (lower than the SC), it can't be cooler related as they are the same. And the FTW has extra power phases

Can you please elaborate on the problems you encountered with the FTW? You said elsewhere its voltage capped much lower than the SC.

hello

First

Do you have anything running in the background? monitoring software?

Whats your PC spec

Did you do a DDU clean install of the drivers?

Do you have GPU-Z or afterburner installed to do a log

Hi :D

Do you have anything running in the background? monitoring software?
Only Chrome web browser, this wasn't a problem with the 780

Whats your PC spec
i7-960 @ 3.2
16Gb of Ram
250Gb SSD
GTX 980

Did you do a DDU clean install of the drivers?

I *think* so

Do you have GPU-Z or afterburner installed to do a log

No to either

I think i'll reload the drivers again, you might be right on the clean install of the drivers

Just playing around some more with Classified and without any Voltage increase from 1.2v the best clocks I can get from it are 1559 Core and 4001 mem. Heaven below:

Hey I think you missed my question earlier, I asked if you could tell me why you got rid of your FTW. You said it was voltage capped, is that by design?

Sorry, must have missed that.

Capped to 1212mv but it did clock to 1450 on that.
