Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

I have an Original Antec 1200, which is a great Air Cooled Case. But I'm looking to go water and it's difficult to install a Water loop into it.

So, I will be changing Cases soon. If you can hold off, watch the MM's as I'll more than likely list the 1200 for sale.

Edit, still setup a custom fan profile. The ACX2 cooler and fans are very good.

I'm at looking into swapping my CF290X setup for SLI 980's, for one main reason, when having crossfire with AMD and spend money on 2 cards, you actually end up using 1 80% of the time and I'm getting a bit sick of it. I must play Witcher 3 in 4K with as many FPS as possible and I've got a feeling AMD are going to make this very hard for me to do and this is going to be my game of 2015.

Will I see any gains @ 4K moving from CF290X's to 980SLI?? what worries me is the memory bus of these cards compared to mine. Should I worry?

What sort of score should I be getting in 3dmark with a stock EVGA SC. I only scored just over 11500, which is a bit crap considering the 290 it replaced was pulling 10400 and cost half the price.

probably find your physics score is holding you back.

Are you talking 3d Mark or 3d Mark11 ?

My 3dmark11 was P14854 with an i5 4670k and single GTX 980

I ran Firestrike on 3DMark basic edition. Surely I should be getting way more than an extra 1k points over a 290?
If not then I might as well get rid of it lol. Hardly worth paying nearly £200 more for that small increase O_O.

Edit: Less than 1k as it goes, just checked the results again.

R9 290 in my sig 10450, GTX980 11124. That seems pretty dire really.

have you noticed anything while gaming ? or tried DSR yet? the 980s are great cards

My eVGA Superclocked 980's are on their way

Just fed-up of the ****-poor support from AMD of late, let's hope they improve soon or their marketshare will dip below 20%!!! :(

Reallllllllllllly looking forward to it :D

I have the MSI Non Reference 980 and its one of the best cards I've ever owned. Overclocks like a mother and the fan is fantastic. It doesn't even spin up while idle, cannot fault it at all.

Similiar to mine 11527 but not overclocked. If you run it at around 1500mhz you will see it pull away more.

Can I just ask, is there a huge difference in performance between the various 980's out there?

For example, what are the main real-world differences between the MSI GeForce GTX 980 OC "Reference Fan" and the MSI GeForce GTX 980 Gaming Edition??

About 5% performance difference between the cards you linked to.

Although the biggest difference between those two is that that plastic reference fan is not nice at all.

Given the same cooling, they both might overclock to very similar speeds.

If you're planning to overclock, there won't be much difference between them most likely...

Given the small price difference, I would go with the custom cooler & default higher clocks.

Although I wouldn't purchase either of those... the EVGA SC is a very similar price (and so is the other EVGA card) and it comes with a better cooler & better aftersales support.
