Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Got mine.

Hi stulid any issues with your dvi connections?

Whilst we were selling 980's at £419 with FREE shipping for all for a week, no one says anything. Then when we are £20 more on a near £500 card that is going end of life, we are all of a sudden more expensive on everything.......

If you did the £419 deal again I doubt many would have even looked at that £499 price on the evga.

Aaaa ok, yea no point in a reference sc if there is a same priced acx unless you prefer reference which is good for exhusting heat. I must say the evga sc is the best ref card by a mile.

I think he's referring to the reference design SC and that the ACX SC will take over

Correct.
All reference 980's are end of life, a big reason for the massive price jumps you are seeing everywhere, they will only get more expensive as they become rarer. :(

Reason: board partners think they know better than NVIDIA and prefer to design their own, plus it saves them money and increases their margins as the NVIDIA cooler cost a small fortune.

Just flash any reference with the SC bios. Very easy to do! ;)

It does 1590 on the core with an extra 50mv.

Temps dont go above 50C at 100% fan speed.

Ive had it as high as 1625 so far.

Beast

Sounds identical to the one I tested, mine hit 1629MHz core for a heaven run, memory around 8100mhz, they do seem excellent.

Meh, they're not reference boards though are they? Any blocks in line?

The SC I have here doesn't exceed 28c under load on water. Crazy temps for a top tier card

I'm sort of regretting getting the 3 980s I did. Probably would've been better off with AMD cards for 4K, but I had my reasons for getting rid of them too.

Also sort of regretting going 4K at this point, maybe a decent 1440p would've been better.

I'll make do though, for now. I'm trooper like that!

3 reference cards on air run hot though, so haven't tried overclocking. So I'm quite jealous of the OC a lot of you are getting.

I'll WC one day. Probably.

Just set a steeper fan profile, they don't get half as loud as Kepler used to in that config. Depends on your airflow though and ambient
