Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Card is going back, not only is that fan annoying, but it's also really badly coil whining in heaven and 3D MARK, can hear it badly when having my side case off. Bad for re-sale that!

Sad :(

Hey guys, something very weird!!

If I use my finger and push the center of the fan up on the right, it doesn't move up or down it's rock solid. Same with the middle fan! But the far left fan you can push it up easily, it's able to move up and down and then it makes that sound like it's scraping on something moving it up slightly... It looks as if the bearing isn't holding the fan maybe?

Video tonight :)

1544 Core
8210 Mem
+37mV

Up to 1549 Core and it starts getting unstable. Always get a little bit lower when running two cards instead of one.

Up to 8250 Mem and I start seeing a couple of sporadic memory artifacts.

I haven't tried the 8211-8249 range yet - still tweaking.

I think I will be settling around:

1529 Core
8100 Mem
+37mV

for a while... I will try reducing the voltage offset and see if I can get them stable at a lower value.

Five year warranty with EVGA too.

Another reason to go with EVGA + they were one of the first to jump to support their customers with the 970 *thing* too... I've always heard good things with their support + 3-month step-up program should the big chip make an appearance + 5 year warranty (extra 50 Euro here to increase that to 10 years too, if you want it) + officially transferrable warranty = slightly better resale value.

No just wondering, some nice clock speeds. What are you testing for stability with and how exactly are you changing the voltage/power limits?

Well that's the waterblock/backplate fitted.

The bare card

Quite a lot of unnecessary stock goop on the gpu. Not good!

All cleaned up

That's better with all that crud taken off. Rest assured I did a better job of reapplying than Gigabyte. I used MX4.

In it's natural habitat

Currently idling at 27c / load 40c :D

Now to get around overclocking this properly. . .
