Nvidia prices the norm?

I said for single player games 30fps is probably more than enough.

I know, I saw it the first time you posted it. I stand by what I've said; if 30fps was more than enough then we'd all be content with a GTX970 and this conversation wouldn't be taking place.

Unless, of course, you think everyone that buys a X70 and above is playing competitive online shooters?

60fps is the minimum for single player games, that's why people buy mid to high end GPUs.

like i said before plenty of console gamers do fine with 30fps.

i have even played destiny like i said for several years and it played fine albeit some did say they could notice a stutter going from halo i couldn't see the difference.

if i was to play csgo at 30fps it would be unplayable.

it's why i can get away with lower fps in other games. 60fps is probably bulletproof but plenty of single player games are playable at 30fps especially if destiny was.

a 970 is fine. look at the steam survey the most popular gpu's are the 1060, 1050 and 750 series.

that shows you most people are playing at 1080p and 60hz screens.

so not everyone needs high end. and it is perfectly fine to play at lower settings for most. however i need a 2070 super to get the best out of my monitor across the 3-4 games i play.

I think it's obvious why steam survey shows lower end cards being most popular, the price.

60 is smooth and between that and around 90-120 or so is super smooth and where it starts to tail off where it's difficult to notice the difference when you go higher. We're talking 16ms at 60fps then 8 at 120, 6 at 165 and 4 at 240. So you can see you need to hold silly figures the higher you go which isn't really possible unless the game is very old or not demanding. You need 480fps/hz just to get down to 2ms.

120/165hz imo is the sweet spot.

1400+ is my guess
I'll pay $1400 for a 3080ti.....if it waaaayyy faster than the 2080Ti.

If the 2080Ti had been ~30% faster than the 1080Ti **at the same price point** I would have thought that it was a decent generational upgrade. I'm not sure if 30% would have been worth an upgrade, but it would have tempted me. Now, so many years later, I would like to see another 30% performance increase at the same price point. So 60% or so over the 1080Ti @$700-ish, and I'm interested. They can call it the 3080ti, the 3080 super-duper...whatever. That price/performance and I'll consider buying

They want $1400? Okay, give me 120% performance increase over the 1080Ti and they can take my money. Otherwise, I'm sure they can take $1400 from someone else.

That seems reasonable, I'm also waiting for a significant jump over 1080ti. I also want it to be more than twice as fast as 1080ti before I'll bite, 130% increase over 1080ti and I'll buy at £1100. Otherwise I'll wait.
