O2 - anyone else just had notice of a 17.8% increase

Got my smarty sim today, activated it and now enjoying 5G tethering current speeds are 330mbps down, 27mbps up, 45ms latency so more than good enough for my needs and cut my bills by almost £50. Coming from Virgin Media M250 the speed I have on 5G is actually way more than I expected, I would have been happy with 50mbps!
Nice. What's the data cap?

So as previously stated my virgin package is £27 and they want to put it up £9 to £36 which is about 33%. Obviously I contacted virgin and complained and they came back that they know times are hard so they can offer me the exact same package I'm on for £59. Result!

Not sure if I missed the sarcasm here, or your numbers don't quite add up!

Oh there's a lot of sarcasm. Their solution for me to save money was to offer me the same package at over double the price I currently pay even though I have around a year left on my contract.

Received mine last night.
I'm on pay monthly sim only (12m) and changed just after last year's increase.
I'll be doing the same once the 12 Months is up and pick a cheaper tariff which they always seem to have.

With ee..problem. I have is they seem so much better than other suppliers. Assume o2 are still crap and smarty are part of three which again assume they are still rubbish?

Used to be with giffgaff, but they're o2 core and while I like giffgaff as a company they were generally slow and had no visual voice mail

i just signed on O2, i dont believe my contract is subject to price rise. anything signed after 4th Feb i believe is not adjustable. anyway it is a 12month SIMO so next year when they rise, i will move onto the next cheaper deal...
Where did you see the 4th Feb published please?

2 things .

1. It’s whilst people are in contract.

2. RPI att 13.9% is bad enough but to top it up by 3.9% is just a total rip off.
But it's in the contract and has been for a few years now so there should be no surprise when they action it. Doesn't make it any less crap but it shouldn't be a surprise.

People wouldn't be so bothered if the prices would actually come down when inflation is in the negatives but they don't, or atleast haven't historically.

If pay rates only increase by an average of 3.1% annually, and bills increase by a minimum of 3.9% then eventually there will be a point where no one can afford anything. Infact were getting close to that now when even middle income families are having to cut back drastically. Poorer families are already at the point of not caring and just making do as best they can by using any means necessary.

I think your missing my point .

Contract or not given how high inflation is and RPI at 13.4% they could have as a good will just waived the +3.9 % . Would probably have kept a lot more customers, like I said it’s just greedy .

Given inflation will drop it makes it even worse.
