Obesity

I think it was inevitable that the human race gets more obese over time. As access to cheap, easy, tasty, awesome food increases, obesity increases.

It's as if heroin (and/or cocaine) started raining from the sky, the answer isn't 'more education', or 'lock the parents up', or whatever. It has to be taken as seriously as Smallpox/Ebola, a globally coordinated response is necessary.

A billion people are obese? That's insane, there are only 8 billion poeple in total.

We shut down the world over Covid. How many excesss deaths from a billion obese poeple? How much has life expectancy reduced?

I have battles with my weight, I was 300 lbs in 2022, went down to 209 in May 2023, I've now gone back upto 245. I have no real excuse tbh, I love my food and the wrong foods. I have got what it takes to be disciplined, I lost the weight last year without "help". I've nothing against people using drugs or surgery, prefer it if they paid for it though.

I don't have snacks in the house tbh so I've nothing bad to munch on, I take them on walks so feel I've earnt them (eg 100g BBQ nuts)
I.do have a hot curry making/ eating addiction but that's a healthy hit of endorphins.
Having said all that I have one night a week Fri or sat where I get through a family bag of crisps or a 6 pack with my vino, mini blow out

This is what happens when the world gets soft.

Too scared to educate, or discipline kids/adults to behave accordingly. Being fat is not ok, but for some reason society treats it like it's ok.

I'm literally watching my sister eat herself to an early grave because her mum has constantly told her she looks beautiful. When in reality it's not true.

Bring back some dignity, and this issue disappears.

How did they get away with stating that is healthy? disgusting.

Because its targeted towards women and women are the biggest buyers into this rubbish.

Big is beautiful, fat acceptance, made by women for women. These don't exist for men.

Basically, let women be fat and lazy and men still be attracted to them!

If the UK has an obesity crisis, where do these people get their clothes, sorry tents from? Most clothes shops stop at a size 22 for ladies (some even a size 14) and men XL.

I have a few friends who are 6'6" to 6'10"+ (I'm a short arse compared to them) and others who are built like tanks (who make me look like a teenager), they have to spend a bit more in shops specialising in larger framed people. They also have to pay more than the rest of us.

I was more shocked where Japan was in the underweight category to be honest.

Did someone play too much Street Fighter II as a kid?

These are just their wrestlers:

The rest of the country, like much of Asia, is generally quite skinny.

6 ft 10 really? I wouldn’t be up to their nipples !

They would purposely put on weight for the wrestling not just because they were eating crap food

You wouldn't be shocked to see chaps this size just milling about B&M
I had to walk on the road to get round one lumbering slowly along today on my walk. At least he had some (badly fitting) clothes on. Can't wait for the summer when they all walk round with their tops off and their gut hanging out.

When I was obese I could get 42 trousers and Large t-shirts everywhere that fit just fine. That's the thing "obese" IS normal now, so all the shops sell obese sizes. The people who can barely walk / need tent sizes are morbidly obese. Most people are overweight and many are actually obese and we just don't like using / hearing the word so we try to palm it off on to only the biggest minority.

I ordered some 13 year olds t-shirts from Amazon for my 13 year old son. Neither of us are "slim" but they were way too big for him, they fit me and I had to get him 10 year olds (fruit if the loom so possibly US sizes).
