Oblivion Peformance So Far

have to say i dont think the gfx on this are anywhere near as good as it was initially made out to be. FEAR and Riddick look better than this in my opinion (yes I know neither of those two have many trees and stuff, talking about movement, animation etc...)

Guys I went from 24fps in dense grassy areas and forest to 37fps!

Turn off shadows on grass (only stops your shadow casting on grass) for 5fps.

Go into the oblivion ini and change iMinGrassSize=80 to =160 for 8fps.

The difference in I.Q is hardly anything at all. All this does is draw less grass in the game.

You can get it for £20 from No competitor talk please! - and no, I wouldnt recommend you buy any hardware from them. Stick to OCUK for that.

Do OCUK sell games now then?, becuase all that guy is dong is stating a game supplier (whoever it may be).
Afaik there arent many hardware suppliers selling games so arnt we being little stuck up our own overclockers arses here?

All being a little to a.n.a.l for my liking.

If I've guessed the supplier correctly, they are indeed also a hardware supplier. At least I also got Oblivion for £20 so I've got a fairly good idea who it is.

Is no one else getting the black screen with HDR enabled issue? With HDR on the screen randomly goes black, although the cursor and health bars etc stay on screen. Only way around it is to reload the game. Or turn off HDR which in my opinion looks just as pants here as it did in FarCry! Think i prefer Bloom + AA

from forums there seems to be a general problem with 7800 and 7900 series cards, while x1xxx seem to be performing fine
I have a 7800GT and have no issues, but I am only in the beginning dungeon but can run 1280*1024, HDR, 8xAF

No black screens but fps will take a hit once I get outside I think.

I do however get the same feeling as with COD2, fps is >90fps and when I turn around it drops to ~31fps without something obvious that can cause the drop :(

Tell us what you get outside fps wise b-cos i,ve been camping out on the oblivion forums and everyone seems to agree there are real performance issues running this game with the 7800 series.

I have 2 x 7800GTX in SLi and get about 20 - 30 FPS outside at 1680 x 1050. It's even worse at my monitors native res of 1920 x 1200, but going below 1680 x 1050 offers no aparent FPS increase. Even at 640 x 480 it still runs at the same speed. This is with HDR and all settings on max.

I think there is very little optimisation of the graphics, particularly for nVidia cards. The 7800 and 7900 series seem particularly unsuited to this game.

Lets all pray for a patch.

I have no problems here whatsover with my 7900 GTX I will report back with my fraps info?

is there a line in the console that gives fps?

That does indicate that there is a different limit and I doubt the CPU isn't capable enough leaving bad coding.

I also doubt a patch will improve things a lot if that is the case.
