Well, as stated above, runs perfectly fine on my system. No issues.

Same here, cant complain. Most settings on the highest & only drops to around low 20's in the most complex areas so im happy :)

IIRC there are a few reports floating around on the internet that Oblivion favours ATI cards. (google benches for it). I am sure these show the X1900XTX easily out performing the 7900GTX.

I think the X1800XT will be a better bet simply with its extra VRAM over the competing 7900GT (which I assume is the other card you would look at as a direct comparison).

Well I actually sent you a mail and replied in your MM post about buying YOUR X1800XT - go check :p
But yeah, looking like ATI atm.

As a bit of a funny anecdote - had my housemate start playing this. He loaded it up for the day at about 11ish friday, was still playing it at about 8ish wen I went out for the night, still playing when I came in and went bed at 2am, woke up around 8ish for work, went downstairs and he still hadnt moved. :D

lol ah right. At the moment I have decided to keep the rest of my system.

It is a fantastic game HOWEVER my 360 refuses to load my save game :(

Going to get another memory card tonight and see if that solves the problem.

I feel your pain on the memory card :(
Bugger on the X1800XT too :( hehe... guess I need to start hunting another one down :) Dont really fancy paying £200 for a new 256MB when a second hand 512 is about £180ish :)

Gah, choices now - 7900GT or X1800XT 256MB both available to me for £200 new. If it was the 512 X1800XT id swing that way - what use is the extra 256MB atm? It really seems to be nvidia cards that are suffering slightly in running this and the upgrade is specifically to play this game :)

I've tried it on my PC for comparison - using a 7900GT Xtreme edition XFX I bought last week from OCuK.

Got to say the graphics don't seem anywhere near like the 360 - maybe it's the step down to 19inches? The bump mapping and textures on the walls seem dead compared to the 360 in HD.

The load times are indeed faster in towns though.

I'll try and get some screen shots up for comparison when I can figure out how to take them on the PC.

So far though, if you have the screen I got to say the 360 is a lot better than the PC version in terms of graphics

Thats weird coz over on the 360 Oblivion thread they were all moaning about how bad it looked

Looks great on mine both in HD and in SD quality. The textures in the distance leave a bit to be desired but then again a game this scale your are going to have a few drawbacks.

From the screenshots I have seen (both pc and 360) the textures themselves look better on the 360 however the texture filtering is better on a pc. (I think its only running something like 4x on the 360 compared to the shots I have seen of 8x+ on the pc).

not sure why they are saying it looks bad

perhaps they mean not in HD at 1080i
and I am playing it on a £2000 screen so that must make a huge difference

No jaggies and the lighting is just superb on the walls etc.

On a normal tv it probably would look bad. On the PC it looks flat by comparison

Running fine here on a 3 year old 1.8 Athlon, 1.25 gig 166 memory and 6600GT gfx card.

I was expecting to have to let the game sit on the shelf due to performance reasons. Though it may sit on the shelf for a while until its modded properly anyway.

Simalar rig, running OK at 10x7 with HDR enabled.

Nope it looks pretty much identical to when its ran in HD mode (I can run it on my TV or through my pc monitor for 720p HD quality)

The only difference is that through the normal tv everything is a little more blurred due to the lower resolution. But nothing major.

You realise the game runs at 720p and not 1080i? So your TV's resolution makes little to no diference.

Because of this thread, I went and got this game, I can max it no problems with full AA or AA off and full HDR, Im not sure if I like RPG games though im normally a 3rd or FPS gammer aswell as driving games etc.

I lowered the res to 1280x1024 as I see no real difference at 1600x1200 apart from fact my 19" CRT has lower refresh rate so I ideally dont want to play under 85HZ.

P.S, I dont have a amd64 or a pci-e gpu still no problems this isnt the most strainfull game Ive played.

Thats it,, im off to get the pc version from tesco in a minute, Ive had a play about on my 360 version and think its a great game the graphics are what I would call ''pretty good'' although the 360 is struggling yet again with this kind of detail and this is very evident in the framerate stutters. Ive got 6800gt's in sli and my pc is set up dual display with a sammy hd lcdtv and a 19'' tft also the 360 can use both these displays so im gonna do a bit of a comparison and have both games running side by side and then switch displays... Ill probably settle with whichever version runs best then sell the other :)

cool, i've only just posted a question in the "oblivion PC or 360" thread asking how the PC draw distance compares to the 360 version, would be nice to hear you opinion also.
