You're definitely an ectomorph by the looks of things. You don't look that powerful from those pics (not the best shots to be fair ;)) but 125kg bench is a good effort, in fact it's remarkable for a person of your physique to bench that much, as indeed is doing super heavy pull downs, so good on you. You do need to get the rest of you up to a decent level though, you don't look 14st then again you might be quite tall! What stats do you currently hold - height, chest, arm size, waist etc? Arms and chest do look like they over power the rest of your frame.

What you on about? ectomorph? you kidding me? fair do's but im 14 stone. 6ft 2. Waist is 27 inches. Dunno about the rest I don't measure it.

Well maybe it's just the pictures aren't that flattering. :) You just look very slim, don't take it as an insult. 27" waist?! My thighs are nearly as big as that! :p

I guess it's because you're tall so I suppose you're weight is about right for your height anyway :)

Waist is 27 inches.

Impressive stats you got there...Im jealous.

When I do lots of cardio, my waist does get very thin, but so does the rest of my body. This happens whether I bring my weight down slowly or quickly, use a low-fat diet or a low-carb diet. Shedding body fat reduces my power output and my muscle-mass.

get measuring.
dont tell me your only impressive exercise is bench, i hope you have a good squat and DL as well.
How big are your legs?

drop a few KG and you would be smashing the UK record for BP at 82.5kg..

Truth is I haven't done cardio in about 4 months, out of lazyness yes, after each weights session I don't do it. And I eat tons of food. Waist is slim yes but then again I don't bother with abs. I used to squat ike 140-150kg. Now because of my back im unable to do it, same for deadlift. Im not interested in power lifting. Im not bothered about competing. Just do what I wanna do if you get me. I get results so it's good enough for me. Im trying to stay lean but at the same time gain muscle. I don't want to look like coleman or anything likethat, so im happy enough as it is. Flattering pic? would you like pics with baby oil rubbed all over me? lol.

My mate benches 110KG for a rep and he's 75kg's. I think that's pretty good.

whats cardio or doing powerlifting got to do with what i said?
i just asked what your squat and DL maxes are, you are doing bench 1RMs so would hope you are also doing the 2 biggest muscle builders, but you arent.

If you are worried about your back, then im surprised that you are even doing 1RM bench presses as that will be putting some serious strain on your back.

what leg and back exercises are you doing instead? (other than crazy heavy pull downs (must be hurting the back a bit?))

The first bit was aimed at sunama. No the bench press doesnt hurt my back at all, a lot of people use their back or arch their back to help or use legs but I don't use either. I did the 1rm just to see what I could get, a mate asked me and said lets see what we can do for 1 rep, so I said sure.

Your actually a nightmare, you rim that comment so much. What leg exercises? leg extension + variations turning the feet inwards and outwards. Leg curl, weighted lunges and step ups. I do light squats just for more reps. Calf raises.

Back I do a lot of different stuff. Lat pull down (wide), lat pull down reverse grip (semi-wide) lat pull down reverse grip inward. Do wide grip pull ups weighted, sets of 10. Do one arm rows on the cabe machine though, also on dumbell. Straight arm pull downs etc.

so nothing at all for lower back then?

if you think im getting on your back (no pun intended) then you should atleast know why - from those pics you clearly show that you have potential to actually look very very good, even without going to the extreme of thinking of competing. you just seem to be ignorant of many many things, which is shocking.
one of the reasons for a bad back (imo) is your shocking workouts where you have no consideration for what you are actually doing, meaning you are causing yourself the pain.

No I do back extensions and the lieing superman type exercise for lower back etc, but just simple stuff. I already told you though, it gives me pain if I try anything with weight on the lower back so I avoid it because of the obvious, if I don't do it I won't get pain right? look i doesn't matter weather I do deadlifts and squats or not, at the end of the day it's opinions. I know one guy a powerlifter also with a degree in sport physiology who says that deadlifting and squatting is a waste of time, it's for pure strength and just avoid it. He says he did it for many years but just avoids it now. Like I was saying you have your opinion, I have mine, they have theirs.

I also have one mate who has massive lats, and upper body, weighs in at nearly 15 stone and is ripped. Yet never worked his lower back before or ever for that matter. Does 100 reps of everything, not in a row but 5 reps constantly, so 5 reps of chest press then 5 reps pec deck, then 5 reps seated row, 5 reps pull up, keep going until 100 of each completed of every exercise, doesn't even bench press, squat or deadlift, but is built like a tank. In the gym for like 6-7 hours.

All im saying is you can't rule these people out calling them stupid or ignorant just because of their way of training, if it works for them then so be it.

nobody called them stupid. if they have found something that works then fair enough.
your sports physio saying that squats and deadlifts are for power only?
hes a powerlifter but avoids squats and deadlifts?
while i will allow people to have opinions, i would really like him to publish his findings that those 2 exercises are pointless for building muscle as he would be dismissed by 99.99% of people who have the slightest clue about building muscle.

Sure they have their way of training that's fine, but some of the stuff they are sprouting is complete ****.

For your physique and size you've got awesome nearly superhuman strength - you really ought to compete you'd do well :)

Deadlifting and squatting is a waste of time?!!!!

LOL, your friend is clearly a complete and utter pillock. Squats and deadlifts are the two BEST exercises for your body. **** the bench press.

I'm going to stick my neck out here... NO exercise is the be all and end all and some people should definately avoid certain exercises.

Squats and dealdlifts are two of the best but they aren't the holy grail and certainly not for bodybuilders or just your average joe looking to "tone up" ;) With you all the way on the bench press though... crap exercise (just my personal opinion of course)

Also there's a few guys train at my old gym who know more and have more experience in their little pinkie toes than I'll ever have.... and none of them squat or deadlift anymore. One of them an ex-british cage fighting champion and the guy is absolutely huge, and fit as a flea. He even actually stopped a mutual friend from training with me because of the squats and deads.

They're tough exercises and if done wrong will ruin you... for life??

getting to a standard then not doing them through choice or not doing them due to health and sefety concerns is one thing, but to outright deny them other than for power is madness :D
