OcUK Dieters Progress Thread

Friday morning Weigh in

Starting Weight : 8st 10lbs
Target Weight : 7st 7lbs
Weight Today : 8st 6lbs

Not doing too bad considering I've not really done much excersise this week and I'm blobbing so retaining a fair bit of water :)

I think I've got my diet pretty much sorted so the real work starts next week and hopefully I will see more of a loss

So it appears to secret is to eat more?

Ok,
I originally posted and I think GordyR gave me some good advice. I was told I should up my food intake as I wasn't eating enough.
So...basically I just wanted to get input on my current diet and gym schedule...i have definatley noticed myself getting more stamina on the cardio side of things and some muscle too but not really noticed weight loss so much...i figured i wouldn't really for a while anyway. I'm a pretty big fella - 6' 4" - about 17 st.

My daily food usually consists of:
Breakfast - Either 2 weetabix with a teaspoon of sugar OR 2xcrumpets with marg
Lunch - a sandwich (usually chicken w/mayo and low fat cheese)
Dinner - last night it was broccoli/carrot/pasta/chicken with cheese sauce.

I sometimes have a banana mid-morning or in the afternoon too.

Anyway, I go to the gym 2, maybe 3 times a week and do 30 mins cardio (bike and treadmill) and 30 mins on weight reps.

On the days I don't gym it i usually do about 30-40 weight reps at home plus about 20-30 sit ups.

On a plus note, I've noticed that since I've started eating breakfast I feel a lot more alert in the mornings so I'd recommend everyone eats it!!

Just weighed myself after a very naughty couple of weeks, and am back up at 13 stone 2 lbs :p Had my 21st birthday which basically involved a week and a half of heavy drinking and eating a ridiculous amount of food, whoops!

Got back into the rhythm a bit this week, been to the gym 3 times doing weights, running and swimming and played 2 hours of squash yesterday, which I'm going to try to play more often now. Will update my weight again on Monday again to keep my regular weigh in day :)

Wohoo I'm inducted :D

I had all my health checks and height/weight/BF etc

Told the chap what my aims were and then I got signed into the Fitlinxx system which stores your programme and shows how you are getting along

My Routine will be as follows

Monday :-
30 mins Cardio ( 15 mins on bike : Random Prog level 6 - 15 mins on X-Trainer : Random Prog Level 3 )
1 Hour Body Pump class

Wednesday :-
30 Mins Ab Attack Class
1 Hour Circuit Class

Thursday:-
1 Hour Body Pump Class
30 mins Cardio

Saturday :-
30 mins Cardio

The idea is I need to do 3 x 30 mins of cardio a week and the body pump will help with my muscles and strength - I've also added in the circuit class to have a nice mix of muscle and cardio

I mixed the order of the Pump & Cardio so it's not too one sided and both things are getting an even amount of energy chucked into them as I will be a little less energetic with my cardio AFTER pump and vice versa

If I know I'm going to miss out the cardio on a weekend for whatever reason I'll chuck it in on a Tuesday :)

Now I've got a rock solid routine which I know I will enjoy I really think I'm going to get somewhere .. I'll be able to see my progress on the Fitlinxx machine thingy so I think that will be a good incentive :D

GO ME !! WOOOOT !!

OMG OMG OMG !

I went out last night , drank white wine & lemonade - Ate Pizza & Chips and Salad for my dinner , ate a packet of crisps late last night and this morning I weighed ..

8st 5.5lbs  WTF !!??

I'm only counting my friday weight but seeing the 5lbs mark really makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere :)

I'm also adding an 30 min Ab Attack class in before the circuit class on a Wednesday

Well done Piggy, it's obvious that your enthusiasm and motivation is on the up again. With the weight now coming off, you'll be back to where you want to be in no time at all :)

Had another bad week this week. Only been to the gym twice and I was still missing my 25 mins on the running machine because I STILL had a runny nose. Doesn't seem too bad today, so hopefully all back to normal on Tuesday. Getting really sick of this now, because I desperately want to do it, and have an all new programme to try out :(

Eating was OK during the week, but bad on Friday/Saturday Had a chinese on Fri night (mussels in black bean sauce & prawns in oyster sauce and a few naughty chips). Also had chocolate fudge cake last night because we were at our annual tarantula lectures and I couldn't resist. I stuck to pasta and salad for the main course though rather than having the creamy stroganoff or Lancashire hotpot.

Hopefully my runny nose has gone now (I've been saying this for the last 3 weeks  Parents are away this week, and I've bought loads of veg so I can have stir frys etc. to compensate for the naughty weekend.

i dont think you put on the weight straight after you eat, in fact it takes about2-3 days.

2nd weigh in and still 14 stone dead, not been the best weather up here so it has cut into my exercise plans. As my plans consist of walking for hours taking pictures with my camera, rowing machine which is being started Monday.

Would have started rowing machine workouts earlier but not had the best end of week health wise, depression crap, so starting tomorrow.

Don't get too disheartened. Some people just need a bit of a kick start.. I know I did! Took me about 3 weeks before I lost anything, and I was at the gym 3 times a week. IMO, the hardest part of the whole process is starting off and getting into a good routine which you can keep up. Just take your time and do it when it's right for you. Good luck, and let us know if you need any motivation... The mob will be in here within seconds :D

Hi there,

This isn't really a dieting question, but rather a general fitness one, so sorry in advance for the slight derail :)

I'm currently getting back into playing rugby after having not played for a good few years. However, I've noticed that my general fitness is not as good as it used to be and I feel myself flagging towards the end of a game or training session. I'm going to start running to try and improve this, but I'm unsure what to do (as daft as that sounds!)?

Is it a case of run as much as possible as often as possible, or shortish distances a few times a week, or a long distance once a week etc? Any help would be appreciated :)

Well done Piggy!! It sounds like things are definitely moving in the right direction for you now :D And seeing progress is amazing for motivation, you'll find it all much easier now I'm sure.

I was 2lb down on Friday, despite a very sketchy week exercise wise. But, an awful weekend has resulted in chocolate/coke/wine comfort so I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. The exercise is back on track though, I've got that first kamakaze ride out of the way today so it'll be back to daily horseriding, and I've been stepping with intent all weekend too
