OcUK Dieters Progress Thread

 3 pics of Piggy and no tounge *faints*

But yea, I agree with Lostkat, the works paying off. I'm going the other way and trying to gain on my stomach as I fear i'm too thin, so lots of work down the gym and eating the right stuff to look forward to.

So much for my plans:

Wednesday when I went to the gym, I ended up doing 30 minutes on the cross-trainer as the stepper I use was permanently busy. I do use the x-trainer but not very often.

Thursday morning the tendon on my left foot/heel was a bit tight but I thought it would just ease off; I went to the gym and did my normal 20 minutes on the stepper, even hit all of my targets but last night I was in agony with the tendon refusing to play nice, I tried a long hot bath, a cold pack and a hot pack all with no results – its as stiff as a board :(

I was hoping to go to the gym again tonight, I was really pleased thinking I would have managed 4 visits in 1 week, but I’m limping around the office and the sensible part of my brain is telling me I need to rest my foot :(

I'll give you my mobile number and every time you feel like a coffee just text me. I'll just hurl loads of abuse at you until you put the coffee down :p

i bet that would work better than any support group rubbish.
try it for other things aswell like giving up smoking, instead of 'hi, yes i know how you feel, i too once gave up smoking blah blah' it could be 'quit you smelly *****, dont you realise your scaring women away with your yellow fingers etcetc RAH RAH RAH'

i can set you up an 0808 number if you want :p

Sam, is it right at the back of the heel that's hurting? If so, try and get a heel insole to slip in your shoes. It should take some of the "stretch" out of the tendon :)

No, its further up...think where the top of the back of a trainer/shoe sits and its round there - if I look at it compared to the other one I can visibly see how tense it is :(

Definitely rest it then, if your diet is sensible you'll still be making progress and you don't want to damage yourself any more.

I know exactly where you mean. I had an injury there many years ago that kept me out of football for 6 months :/

Get the heel wedge in your shoe and it will help recovery and possibly stop further problems :)

Ok, I surrender.

It's about time I lost some weight.
I get out of breath too easily and struggle with steep hills etc.

I want to stop smoking eventually but always put on weight when I stop so I would like to lose some weight and get into good eating habits before I make the attempt.

I'm not a big fan of exercise but don't mind walking (I hate gyms so don't even suggest it :p ). My diet is crap and I enjoy "the odd beer" now and again :p

I am 5'10" and 16 1/2 stone (105Kg). I would like to be about 13 1/2 stone (86Kg) as this was the weight at which I was most comfortable (many years ago :o ).

This thread is incredibly long and I am far too fat and lazy to trawl my way through it looking for advice. Could some kind soul provide a précis of the advice so far and make any suggestions how best to motivate myself to see it through?

I thank you in advance for your help and support.

Stan :)

PS: Please bear in mind that I work offshore and the food on some of the rigs is very good and some of the less sensible stuff is hard to resist. Most have a salad bar with basic salad ingredients, though.

Welcome to the fold Stan ! :D

I haven't got a great deal of advice so hopefully one of our gurus will post soon :)

New timetable has been released , here's my new schedule :

Monday : Body Attack ( 1 hour )
Tuesday : Body Combat ( 1 hour )
Wednesday : Ab Attack ( 30 mins ) followed by Circuits ( 1 hour )
Thursday : Body Pump ( 1 hour )
Saturday : Body Pump ( 1 hour ) * Will be slotting this one in as and when so won't beat myself up if I skip it out

I have a half pump half attack class tomorrow morning at 10am

I've promised Desmo's sister I'm going ( it's her class ) so I can't dip out of it :o

Sweet jebus :P

I've been trying to tone up, been heading to the gym *almost* every day doing:
20 minutes bike - lev 8, cross contry
10-15 (2500-3000m) rowing - lev 6
6 Minutes running - lazy @ 7.1-8mph, but I can't always be arsed to do that
Usually hit that crazy ab machine (you lean forward with weights), 6x15 reps@35kg
and finnnaly. crazy pulling arm machine thing, 35kg 3-4 reps...

Its made some difference but I've been at it a while and its not burning the excess fat off either :(

currently: 6'1 (or 2, depending whos measuring :P), 10.5 Stone

Anyone got any tips?

What about your diet? Post it up!
Diet, ahh the diet... thats not so much a diet and more of a student method of saving money...

Pretty much consists of pasta, more pasta... bread and ham.. and if I'm really lucky, some mince :P

This was my last weeks food rota:
Brekky: Cornflakes
Lunch: ham/turky sarni with salad
dinner: either pasta + carbonara sauce or one of the previous two :D

err, thats pretty much it, I just alternate that.. Though a lot of chewing gum is involved

Started my diet about half way through January at 271lbs (19 stone 5lbs), Weigh in yesterday was 242lbs (17 stone 3 pounds) 2 down 3 to go till im trim like my pre uni days! Anything lower than 13 stone and i look way too thin even tho im only 5ft 11.

Change cornflakes for Porridge or oatmeal as they are not really very good energy food! Always have brown bread if you must eat bread! Also the Carbonara and cheesey sauces are much worse for you than a Tomato based one.

Your diet doesnt seem that bad tbh, and at 10stone and 6foot+ why on earth would you need to loose weight?

Start weight - 101kgs, Week 1 - 101.5kgs, Week 2 - 101.5kgs, Week 3 - 99kgs, Week 4 - 98kgs, Week 5 (away), Week 6 - 97 kgs, Week 7 - 95kgs, Week 8 = 94kgs, Week 9 = 93kgs, Week 10 = 92.5kgs, Week 11 = 91.5kgs

Well its been a while since my last update. Week 12 will be my last week for my sponsored weight loss at work and hopefully I'll get my last 0.5kgs which gives me a nice round 10kgs loss in the 12 weeks. :)

Im going to carry on and try to lose another 10kgs which should put me around the 13 stone mark which is about the high side of right for my height (5ft10). God trying to lose a total of 3 stone makes you sound like a really fat git :p but if all goes like it has already then its not going to be that bad.

On a side note, I found four new pairs of trousers at home that I bought ages ago which I grew out of rather quickly due to my expanding waist line and now I fit in them again, woohoo, its like getting free new clothes :D

I have lost 6.8 pounds in just over 2 weeks, I have only done light exercise to get my fitness back and lifted some light weights.

:D :D

Cant wait to start biking to work agian.

Yesterday I spent about 3 hours finishing stripping the wallpaper and coving from the front room - a friend of Mic's is a plasterer and has said sometime in the next couple of weeks, he'll come round and re-skim the whole room so it needed to be finished and ready for him

Today I ache like I didn't think possible - my calves, my thighs, my back and my right arm and hand (from using the scraper) - those 3 hours have to count as exercise...right?

And now all I want is a coffee... :(

They sure do count as exercise! You've been exerting yourself physically, so you've been exercisng. Go you :D

NO COFFEE!!!! If you have to have one, have a decaf. I will say it again... NO.COFFEE. Or Desmo will start the abuse ;)

My aim is to go 2 weeks with no coffee at all, after that I may allow myself decaf.

May seems so far away at the moment
