I was like that at first, people taking the mick
They wouldn't take the mickey......I'd sack them :p

I just don't think I'd perform well at work if I'd just done an 8 mile ride in. Might give it a go one day though just to find out, hehe.

Sorry if this has been discussed previously but why are people trying to avoid drinking coffee?

With me its more because I drink way too much. I don't take sugar and only use semi skimmed milk but I can still go through 6-8 huge mugs a day without any problems.
Also when I drink coffee, I don't drink water, so as my coffee intake goes up, my water intake goes down.

I generally try to keep an eye on my intake but every now and then it spirals out of control so I do a month "detox" to try and sort my system out.

As I was planning a t-total month I thought I'd go the whole hog and do the coffee detox too.

Sweet jebus :P

I've been trying to tone up, been heading to the gym *almost* every day doing:
20 minutes bike - lev 8, cross contry
10-15 (2500-3000m) rowing - lev 6
6 Minutes running - lazy @ 7.1-8mph, but I can't always be arsed to do that
Usually hit that crazy ab machine (you lean forward with weights), 6x15 reps@35kg
and finnnaly. crazy pulling arm machine thing, 35kg 3-4 reps...

Its made some difference but I've been at it a while and its not burning the excess fat off either :(

currently: 6'1 (or 2, depending whos measuring :P), 10.5 Stone

Anyone got any tips?

At your weight/height forget cardio and hit the free weights. Seriously mate. If you main objective is to build a more aesthetically pleasing physique then you will have far better results via increasing your lean bodymass rather than decreasing your fat percentage.

Remember that increasing your lean body mass (muscle) will naturally decrease your bodyfat percentage. If you were to diet and perform regular cardio in order to get rid of any 'flabby' bits by the time you got your bodyfat percentage low enough you would look extremely skinny.

Forget the machines, start performing compound exercises with free weights. Your body will change much more dramatically. Forget isolation exercises for the time being and concentrate on Squatting, Bench pressing, heavy Rows and deadlifting. If you eat correctly and concentrate on upping your lifts as often as possible you will increase your overall lean mass. With that increase in lean mass your bodyfat percentage will automatically be lowered. You won't actually be losing fat obviously, but as your percentage of lean mass increases, the percentage of your body that is made up of fat will decrease. Also heavy squatting will literally melt fat off you, it's extremely demanding on the body, just about the best exercise you can do.

Visit the sports section for tips regarding weight lifting and dieting for hypertrophy (muscle growth). Good luck! :)

Well last week I switched from drinking coke to orange/apple juice or water and already noticed a big difference in my sleeping paterns. I'm more of a deep sleeper now and don't find myself falling asleep at work. So I'm happy that a fairly simple change in my diet has already given me a noticable benefit. :)

I'm now 12 stone 2 pounds, started at about 13 stone back at the end of January. I've had some really bad weeks and others were good. I've been off chocolate and crisps for lent so haven't had any of those for about a month. Last week was the first time that I've done any real exercise and went running/jogging/walking (in that order due to tiredness ) for 3 nights which really paid off so i'm planning on doing this more often.

I'm dreading the next few months as I have various music exams and my A-levels so I have to find a way to stop me snacking when I get off for study leave. Well done to you lot who have stayed so committed, especially you Piggy, I can really see a difference there!

There will be no pics of me until i've lost about a stone and a half and am happy with how I look :D

Thanks mate :)

I'm really starting to get somewhere now and for the first time ever I am confident in being happy with my body by May :D

1 Hour of Body Attack done .. I'm cream crackered !!!!

But I really enjoyed it and shall be going every week

Next class - Body Combat tomorrow

:D

Uh oh , I've got the bug :o

Just phoned the old Gym in Swansea I used to be a member of to see what classes they had .... I never attended the classes there I only used the cardio equiptment and even then I only went once a week :p

I'm going to stay with my parents for about 10 days in 3 weeks time and I know I HAVE to do something .. I can't stand the thought of not doing anything for that amount of time , just as I'm really getting somewhere I don't want to take a step backwards :/

I'm not going to go mad , just do 2 classes a week to keep things going until I kick back into it again when we get back home

Monday 6pm - Muscle Works ( Body Pump )

Wednesday 7pm - Hi Lo Aerobics ( Body Attack )

They don't have the actual BTS classes but these ones are very smililar :)

That's gonna bugger my parents up when they're cooking food because they always have dinner on the table by 7pm :o

Ooh we'll have to meet up for shopping sometime then :D
But I'm not going to the gym with you :p

Well I tried combat but left halfway through :p

I didn't feel like I was getting a good workout, the moves were very unnatural and I felt a touch silly :o

Just really didn't enjoy it overall so I'll drop that from the timetable - pointless me doing something I don't enjoy :)

I feel I've got a nice mixture of Cardio and Weights

Monday : 7 - 8pm - Body Attack ( Cardio )
Wednesday : 6.30 - 7pm Ab Attack , 7pm - 8pm Circuits ( Mix of Cardio & Weights )
Thursday : 7.30 - 8.30 pm Body Pump ( Weights )

That should be enough :)

Glad everything's going well Piggy. Seems like you've got your routine sorted and are well on your way to perfection now :D

I forgot to record my weigh in results this week, so I'll have to do a mid-week weigh in. Lost 2lbs this week

I've lost over 10lbs in total and am now 93% my starting weight. Pretty chuffed with myself. Really want to get to a stone loss now, but I think it's going to take more than that to get rid of my belly.

Go Kate ! :D

I don't think I'll be too long before I get there if I carry on at the rate I'm going at now , for the first time since I started I'm confident at being happy with myself by Splash Landings :)

How do people combat the hunger pangs?

Stan :)

Eat :p
snack on fruit or something similar. ive got 2 apples and 2 oranges on my desk for these times :D

amend your diet so that the complex carbs that you eat are released slowly across the day, that will help a little.
