OcUK Dieters Progress Thread

Oh, hopefully this sunday when i weigh myself i will be under 20st, however that depends on just how much lean muscle i have gained.

im a long way from where i want to be, but im getting there. just thankful that for my size my bf% wasnt really that bad, and thats coming down all the time.

Thanks Sam *hugs*

How's your foot ? :)

Its better - I was going to try the gym last night but got side tracked and ended up getting my legs waxed :o

Should be going tonight though.

The lack of coffee is a problem at the mo - I'm always tired and I'm getting some blinding withdrawl headaches :( Last time I cut out coffee it took over 2 weeks before I even began to feel normal again :(

Haven't posted in here for a while but it's great to see people's progress so far. I gave up on my plan of eating fewer calories but eating more regularly combined with cardio - after a month there was absolutely no difference to my weight or waistline despite sticking to it religiously. Instead, I've recently taken up some proper weight training in the hope of gaining muscle which should lead to fat loss naturally (plus I can eat more!). Only a few days in but I already feel more active than when I was doing loads of cardiovascular work - the pain is unbelievable, but in a good way. Did some heavy squats yesterday and now I'm walking like John Wayne with a wedgie.

Edit: Why does the thread only have four stars? Must be some right miserable ****s out there! Voted five for teamwork alone... <-- oxymoron alert!

*more hugs* Stick with it Sam , you're doing well :)

Well done you Belimt !! ... It's hard when you feel like you aren't getting anywhere ... I nearly gave up so many times over the last month .. it kills your motivation when you're working so hard but nothing is happening ! Kudos to you for trying something different

My biking to work is going well, 30.94 miles in 3 days :D

I can feel my heart getting stronger and I lungs are getting abit stronger aswell.

Its really tough coming home on the bike after a 8 hour day at work, but last night I shaved 2 minutes of the Mondays time. 32 Mins 30 Secs .

I need a little advice and thought this would be the perfect place. :) My sister had a baby last year and since then she's been overweight and understandably so. But at the minute she's got it into her head that the only way she is going to lose this excess weight is to buy 'Now Slim' dieting pills that you can get on ebay. £40 for a months supply roughly and they claim that it will target fat during your sleeping hours as well. Deep down I know this is a load of bull, but can anyone put it into words for me so I can tell my sister without getting into an argument with her. She'll get really defensive even if I'm offering some advice. I'm going to suggest to her that exercising like going for a walk, cycle or swim and modifying her diet to a healthy one would help her a lot more than taking a pill every day. Thank you for your time. :) She's 23 yrs old.

There are no miracle pills that you can buy on ebay that actually work. if there was, would they really be being sold on ebay, would they really be that cheap, would everyone not be on them?

Exercise and a good diet > ebay pills

Absolutely, stay away from anything with "miracle" on the label. I will admit I haven't had a lok at the contents of these Ebay pills but they are more than likely nothing but a placebo.

Having said this there are pills out there which can aid fat loss. Namely Thermogenics and formulas based around the classic ECA stack. (Ephedra, Caffeine, Asprin) but these are nothing but supplements to an already good diet and exercise regime. These types of products are often used by bodybuilders to cut up for competition. They use them in combination with an extremely strict diet plan and very intensive exercise regimes.

I personally wouldn't recommend them to anyone who just wants to "get in shape". You can't just take them and expect fat to fall off you. You have to put in the work.

Yeah, I ended up doing my own research after you left me hanging :(

I left you hanging? I remember you asked a while back in a thread if I minded you emailing me regarding something but I never got an Email. :(

Lol unless you somehow got caught in my spam filter... I probably have a whole pile of abusive Emails from you sitting there! :p

You sure you got the correct addy dude?

Well done everyone! It's so fab to see everyone still making progress :)

Having had a weekend of eating out constantly and a week of not going to the gym, I'm stunned to say my weight has once again stayed the same. I cant see how really, and I feel really stodgy, horrible and tired as well as generally down and totally lacking in motivation. I had a review with my PT today and was supposed to go and do some cardio after speaking to her but I couldnt face it and just left.....I have put my name down for spinning tonight though, and I'll go if it kills me (worryingly likely).

Had lemon chicken/fried rice last night as the football was on the TV (bad me), so today walked an extra couple of bus stops to work stopping in for a Greggs chicken roll and "fairtrade" orange juice for breakfast. Will see how the rest of the day works out after having that.

Usually my breakfast consisted of packet of crisps, chocolate bar and coke so no surprises I put weight back on. Will see if this plus the extra walking will help me out.

:)

Got plastered last night because the mighty Celtic won the SPL - C'MON THE HOOPS \o/.

Will walk to the supermarket today and carry all my shopping back as penance and hopefully walk off the booze.

I've been very good up until last night - been eating very sensibly and not been so lazy. Could be a bit more active though, I just need to get into a routine.

Tentatively weighed myself this morning and things look ok - not sure how much will be down to dehydration (hangover) but should be ok :p

Stan :)

Racked up 42.57 Miles this week on my bike, I taking the car to work today as my arse is in bits. Just need getting use to the new seat.

Its getting hell of a lot easier now and next week I will be riding to work and then going to the gym straight from work, the canal goes right past the gym so it cuts out having to ride through town. :D

Not long come back from Body Pump and after not going training last night ( I really wasn't in the mood, had a bad day at work and a headache :/ )............ I BLOODY LOVED IT RAAAAAAAAH !!

PUMP IT BABY !!!! :D :D

*ahem* :o

I have gone really off track this week :

Monday - stopped late at work - extra 1 1/2 hours - too tired to go to Gym.

Tuesday - stopped late at work - extra 1h 20 mins - went out with people from work - lots of lager + cheesy chips but did dance a lot and went home with a girl.

Wednesday - Really exhausted from booze and lack of sleep - too tired from Gym went to bed at 9.45

Today - stopped late at work - extra 2 hours - I have had a really bad cramp in my leg all day - probably from dancing in my knackered shoes that I had worn a hole in. Got some Cans after work, got bought KFC at work for stopping late :)

Forgot to post I have a re-evaluation at the Gym on Friday ...since the 24th of Feb I've lost 3% body fat ! :)

I know my actual weight isn't dropping too much but I'm doing Body Pump on a Thursday which is an hour of weights and then 1 hour of Circuits on Wednesday which is an even mix of weights and cardio so I know a lot of it is due to building muscle
