OcUK Dieters Progress Thread

For a while after I posted earlier, I didn't do much about this losing weight malarkey but since I came out to Egypt I have been trying to be sensible - especially since I came out to the rig nearly three weeks ago.

I have been trying to eat sensibly and we have been quite busy some nights with lots of walking and climbing stairs which is helping.

On nights when we're not busy (like tonight) I do a bit of power walking around the deck - much to the amusement of the local crew :o

The nett result is that my weight is now 15 stone 7lbs - a loss of 9lbs since I came out here. I'm really rather pleased with myself and my workmates have commented that they can notice a difference

I still have an aversion to gyms but I did get as far as looking inside the door last night - maybe one of these days I might go as far as going inside and sitting or standing on one of the pieces of equipment.

This loss has given me a bit of an incentive to carry on and try hard to keep it going so there will be no chips or puds when I get back and any time I drink beer I will be sure to work extra hard the following day to compensate.

Lots of long walks for me then :p

Nice one Stan, well done :) I think it does motivate you more when you've lost a little and can start to see the effects. It's amazing what difference a little exercise can make too! Keep at it

Go Stan !! :D

Haven't got access to my scales until tomorrow morning but with all the extra work I've been putting in I hope to see a loss :)

Tried on some bikinis yesterday in Debenhams and caught sight of my butt in the rear view mirror thingy and it's looking better

Well done Stan! :)

I went for a 5km run yesterday (thought I should see how far the distance was seeing as I am doing the Race for Life).

It wasn't too bad - managed it in 40mins (with some walking).

I HATE running! I don't see why people find it so great! :o

Aching a bit today... but pain is good right? ;)

Nice one Stan :)

Havent been in here for a while. I havent been to the gym for about a month for one reason and another. I initially put on about 3lbs, but have lost that and another 4lb over the past fortnight :) Am now the lowest Ive been for, well as long as I can remember. I've lost all motivation to exercise, but also lost all inclination to eat too which is just as well lol!

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys :)

Well done to all those who are doing well and keep trying all those who aren't doing so well.

BB: That's quite a distance (for me anyway), I'm sure you can shave a bit off that time with a bit of practice. Let us know how you get on?

Pebbles: Good on you lass :) I know how you feel about the exercise :o
I hope you're eating enough not to make yourself ill. Perhaps not eating properly could be the reason for the lack of motivation to exercise?

I can do the eating sensibly bit ok, it's just the exercise bit that I have problems with - probably after so many years of doing sod all. If I could get into some sort of routine I'd probably be ok but with my job involving travelling and working in different places, it's quite difficult to get a routine going.

Stan :)

Feeling a touch demotivated today :(

Not had access to my scales till today so weighed in this morning and I'm the same as last week :/

I've been getting up at 6.30am ( 1 hour earlier than normal ) 3 times a week to attend a 20 min workout class and I am sooo not a morning person

I've not eaten any naughty food for 10 days and what benefit do I see ?

NOTHING :(

You may not be any lighter but with all the exercise you are doing you will be building muscle mass, which is heavier.

Don't get too disheartened, you may not be any lighter but you will be fitter and probably firmer. You said yourself recently that you thought your bum looked better when trying on bikinis - that'll be the result of the exercise firming you up :)

Of course, she won't mention that she was pleased with what she saw in the mirror at the weekend ;)

Less worrying about the numbers please dear :)

I didn't see this thread, can I be a late joiner? :)

Where am I.....

Oh yeah, last summer I lost a load of weight, then managed to put it all back on by mid April with a few bits extra (damn kebabs :p) and amounted to the princely heap of about 16 Stone 10. :o

So the general path I have been following for, I think this is week 3/4, is:

Eat less (not really been watching but I think I eat less)
40 minutes at Heart zone 2 on an excersise bike everyday (thats about 140bpm for me)
Then whatever bonus I can fit in, I have to say its working I am down to 16,3 now. :)

Still no idea how much I weigh (nor do I care) but keep having to buy smaller clothes due to my boss's new Let's See If We Can Kill Dawn By Giving Her Extra Classes regime. Works a treat!

Monday morning weigh in *drum roll* ..

8st 3.5lbs :D ... I'm also blobbing so retaining water so me thinks that's a good result !

Managed to drag my butt to the gym this morning despite having only 6 hours sleep and it being all wet and horrible outside !
