I decided to delid my 4.6G bundle I7 4770K cpu as wanted to try for lower temps.
Before I started today quick prime was giving me 81C to 87C peaks across the cores.
My plan of course was for Liquid pro core to IHS and Gelid GC3 IHS to water block.
HOWEVER look what I found when I removed the lid which was very easy took about 3 taps with a very light hammer and vice.

Sure as hell looks like Liquid pro to me already applied to CPU!
Application looks thin around the middle though.
Anyway I cleaned it all up, including some laying across the resistors? Assuming it was dislodged onto them during the IHS removal.
At end of day carefully reapplying Liquid pro and using Gelid GC3 under the water block max temps in prime are now maxing at 57C to 61C across the cores.
Dropped 26C
I was under the impression these were sold as specially binned chips but not previously de-lidded.
Have to say the IHS bond to the cpu looked like it was original and had not been previously removed.
But it sure as hell is not the same TIM everyone else has had posted in pics.
