OcUK Powerlifting Totals

Well done Morba I doubt I'll ever match you for deadlifts I hate them to much. Bench wise thats about my limit tbh and for squats well thats something I feel I can progress more on with a smith machine so watch this space.

Hi all, think i posted 9-10 months ago, anyway current stats

Bodyweight 100K
Bench P 135 (really really desperate to get 3 plates (140) by Xmas)
Squat 205KG (belt)
Dead lift 235KG (no straps)

Total - 575

Just coming off doing a 5x5 routine this week so next week goign to try and smash the above for my yearly total... my target at start of year was 600K total.... close aye! My bench is my main downfall however i think at start of year i was just getting 105 or 110, if i get the 140 i will be happy.

Welcome to the club Jack - impressive lifts there! Nice squatting! Shame your bench is leaving you behind :( I'm hoping to break 600kg next year. Can't wait! :D

I've updated the totals and included you in it.

Who do mean by "these" people?

Also bear in mind that you don't have to be huge to life big weights for 1RMs, and some people just don't want to post pics of themselves.

This isn't really a serious competition but more a bit of fun. A lot of people (certainly the top 10) I know pretty well that they aren't lying (for a start I'm in the top 10 :p). However even in the top 20 most of those lifts are very believeable.

Deadlifts will always be the biggest number for most people and bench will typically always be the smallest number. It's just the way it is. :)

I use this thread as more of a log of how my strength is progressing. But also look back to read the descriptions of how I found each lift etc if it was difficult/akward/painful :p

JackCarver- nice lifts mate, very respectable :)

Dave- I understand why you have doubts, I have been totally shocked before at the lengths some people go to when lying to strangers over the internet. However big 3 totals and how you look don't have much correlation to be honest. Bodybuilding= giving the illusion you lift heavy weights, powerlifting= lifting heavy weights ;)

Cheers for the comments guys :)

Like i said hope to beat them all next week!

I regulary train with guys who compete in UK strongman & a few guys who Powerlift (350K+ squats!! & 310L deads! & 240K bench!!!!)

So in comparison im well down, but all going good at the moment.

Target for next week -

210 Squat
240 dead
140 bench

- 590K ooooooo!!!!

Also i would post pics but i'm keeping a vest on and hiding my face so fairly pointless!

Going to try and cut from feb onwards ill post once ripped but can only see outline of 6 pac so no way at the moment!

Vanity for ever! ;)

for Bench I have a weakness in a shoulder owing to a dislocation I did many years ago so you're probably right I will be hitting a wall unfortunately.

Hallo Pal.

Can I nosey in on this subject?

What RC work are you doing for this at the moment? I do lots of shoulder rehab and have a pretty serious glenoid labrum injury myself, so might be able to chuck some extra ideas in :)

Ant

EDIT: Realise this is a Powerlifting thread, don't want to derail. Take it to email if you like. In trust.

Turkish get-up has been highly recommended as a rehab exercise to shoulders, check out the crossfit forums. You will almost never see it practice in any gyms in the UK, which is a shame as its a great way to get shoulder strength up, I am now upto 45kg for reps 50kg 1rm DB for the turkish getup, and can now easily do 70kg military presses for 3x8, up from my previous plateau of 50kg 1x5.

lets start climbing the ladder:

weight: 77kg
total lifts: 275kg

bench - 95kg
deadlift - 100kg
squat - 80kg

i aim to start getting the bottom two digits ramped up quickly.

No worries matey.

I've done lots of shoulder rehab and spent a lot of time with the physio since I posted that and I'm a lot better as a result - and re-evaluated my training style (less flat bench for a start). However I'm pushing 120-140kg for reps without any pain or issues. :)

However happy to discuss it on email (always be good to chat to you off the forums anyway. :)).

Today was my third day of returning to my old routine to compare SP250 to V-max pump.

Thought I'd go mega heavy to warm up and aim for a 1RM. My PB having been 140KG (on a smith as we have no squat rack). It was rather uncomfortable from what I remember and I didn't feel very safe or happy with it.

I've been using a 5x5 for a few weeks and over x-mas was doing it every 3-4 days and finished on 122.5KG.

Gym was nice and empty when I got there however I couldn't warm up quick enough as I was feeling quite confident! :D

All below parralell.

Bar x 5
60KG x 5
80KG x 4
100KG x 4
110KG 2
120KG x 1
130KG x 1
135KG x 1
140KG x 1

Feeling good so far, heavy but not insanely difficult and no stall. My core is much much stronger than before, as is my form and use of the correct muscles.

142.5KG x 1PB:)
145KG x 1 PB
147.5KG x 1 PB
150KG x 1 PB :D

Stopped there as I had a leg workout to do. Made 100KG feel dead light!

The rep felt comfortable and there was no stall, however it did slow in the middle and my glutes felt like they were about to burst clean out of my buttocks and eyes out of my head simultaneously!

That was my target for the year :p so looks like I'll be aiming higher. I'm also down 2-3 kilos with a bodyweight of 87KG. Feels good to be making some progress! Bench is next on the list!

FF if you could update my totals please and boost me up as appropriate :)

Edit: Chasing PAz. How's the knee coming along?

Havent done any 1RMs, but this is me at the moment, I'm finding it hard to go above these figures!

Bench - 85kg
Squat - 135kg
Dead - 140kg :(

BW - 77kg
