OcUK Powerlifting Totals

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Machine lifts aren't impressive or a good show of strength!

They have cables and pulleys and each machine is different, as some make lifts much easier than others. I absolutely guarantee you if SK07 is telling the truth the machine will be giving a huge advantage.

My gym has several pulley machines that are all identical yet some of them allow me to lift almost 20% more than others because of little things like smoother tracking, etc. So imagine what a totally different machine can be like with pulleys setup to take more strain? Which they will be if it has such a huge stack like 175kg ;)

Now if he can lat pull that then he should be able to do a pullup with his training partner on his back.... now that would impress me.

Also Bench Press is such a crap exercise imho, it's like Leg Press... all it shows you're strong at is that exercise. Dips are much better as that's brute strength, there's nowhere to hide! Bench Press is more form than anything else, anyone agree? Or are you all Bench monkeys? ;)

I suppose calling it crap is a bit OTT but it just bugs me how it's the numero uno exercise for 95% of people I suppose. I think "Immensely Over Rated to the Max!" would be a better description? :)

I mean how many guys do you see in the gym who just mainly bench press and then do some swinging barbell curls followed by concentration curls "for da pumpz to ma gunz"? :D I just take satisfaction knowing they'll go to the bar after and pay £5 for a sugar and protein drink that tastes nice haha!

I'd agree with that. Dips with a belt and some weight. All flat bench does is irritate my shoulders these days. Much prefer incline bench and dips.

...and that they'll still look the same in 6 months time.

although i drink the dreaded flavoured protein, i agree with your attitude. As reflected in a lot of my posts i consider about 99.9% of bodybuilders to be complete pansies with no drive, dedication or chance of success. "My back hurts" "my hands hurt" "that protein tastes funny" "ewwwww i hate eggs"

All of that crap makes me mad. And rant. And moan. I have a T-Shirt that says "SHUT UP AND SQUAT!!!" but most of the time it should just read "SHUT UP!!"

You alreet today mate? Had a problem measuring out your supps again this morning did we? Come on, have a sit down in your chair and I'll get your slippers and make you a nice cup of tea ;)

I hear what you're saying but this thread is called "OcUK Powerlifting Totals" and since bench/dead/squat are the internationally recognised moves you can keep your anti-bench views out of here :p

Very true and I'm not a powerlifter, hence me not posting any totals.... ;) :D

Dude you're getting angrier  and angrier  with every post.

I think we should start a sweepstake on how long it takes before UE punches some bench munkeh in the nads :D

hehe, wtf would happen if i got juiced!

ah i think its just a transition period, I'm moving from newbie to intermediate and haven't quite mellowed into it yet. So im angry at noobs whilst intimidated by intermediates.

RAH and such.

It's the ONLY way you are going to get huge Chong I'm afraid, tri's followed by Bi's then another Bi's - keeping your back bent and swinging! Legs = psssshh! - big gunz = big pay cheque!!
;):p

I'll add some in. I haven't done a 1rm squat before but I've done 100kg atg for 3.

Bench: 100kg
Squat: 100kg
Deadlift: 135kg

At 76kg

Man i got so bummed out yesterday, had a 1rm bench session for a laugh, after the warm up did 80x1 90x1 100...fail :( i was able to lower it like it was nothing which i wasnt expecting, then i was also able to lift it off my chest about 2 inches, then bam was like pushing and elephant. The reason i quoted you Skull is that your lifts demonstrate how out of kilter my bench is with my other lifts. Either that or your squat/dl sucks ass ;)

Back to dumbell presses for me, at least i look pretty big even if underneath im just a lowly >100k bencher lol

I'm going to have a 1rm dl session tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to distance it.

I did a 1rm bench session today and managed 100kg... so I seriously hope I can squat more than that :D
