OcUK Powerlifting Totals

Its interesting to note that only the top 30% of that list is in the 1000lb club.

I've visited a high school here and saw numerous boys wearing 1000lb club tshirts - upon asking their football coach why they would wear such things he informed me that every single one of his 140 football players was a member of said club and that he gave out shirts for each major event.

Now bearing in mind these kids go from 13 to 17 I was bloody impressed :eek:
 
Is that for people that can lift a total of over 450kgs in the 3 exercises listed? That's quite a cool t-shirt, but it's not THAT impressive, though saying that, if it ranges from 13-17 year olds then it is impressive.
 
So 140 13-17 year olds who can all do a 400lb deadlift, 350lb squat and 250lb bench. Wouldn't want to play against them! They must put something in the water over there.

Agreed it's impressive for the age group but not as a goal. If all you train for is max strength in the big 3 then 1000lb is easily attainable... which proved by the fact the guy says all 100% of his 140 boys can do it ;)

american coaches use such tactics as opposition psych out techniques. Although american high schools do have some strong strength athletes and some even better coaches, most of the reports i have heard about high school football training is that form is....shall we say.... lax.

i can shallow squat 240kg maybe more
Dead lift is much the same as form is injury preventative but with knee wraps a belt and wobbly dangerous form i suspect i could add 50-70kg
bench if i come down to about 3 in off my chest i could get about 120kg

so thats a total of about 540kg give or take (240, 200, 120) wooo 1000 club :D
 
Upped the bench to 80kg today. I'm disappointed though because I had a bit more in the tank, tried and failed 85kg. I reckon if I could have found a couple of 1.25kg plates I could have done 82.5kg, but not to worry. Next stop 85 then :)

If you bench and your buddy rows with the same bar at the same time i bet you could get that bench up to 150kgs...

During my visit I was able to watch them workout and they're form seemed perfect, they would be made to do it again if they did it incorrectly, i.e During the squat when they reached parallel the coach would clap his hands - No parallel no
point.

I just wanted to share with you how shocked I was to see this age group putting out numbers of fully grown men. I think you'd be hard pushed to find even one kid in a British High school who could even come close let alone 140 of them!

I was there on a read america day where athletes from Colleges go to schools and read to (retard) kids or kids who wern't quite with it.
 
Where that is impressive now dude - come back to them when they are say 25-30ish and most of them will be in awful shape.

I don't doubt it, they eat like football players at the moment because they are, come college mst of them wont get recruited but will continue to eat how they currently do.

Yeah that is what I have noticed and been told a lot. The ones that have the mindset of eat eat eat and get big, just become fat once they stop playing sports and that = fat America :p

Either way you'll develop some awesome athletes and a lot of fatties :eek:
 
:( Any chance we could add other exercises like EZ curl bar, shrugs, seated row, lat pull downs as these are my strong points and i intend to improve on these and not bench press, squat, deadlift. If its ok with Fusion and everyone else i'll find my one rep max during the week if they will be added.
 
heres my current 5 rep max's : deadlift 130kg, squat (on smith :[ ) 100kg, bench 70kg
@ 6'2 and 76kg

Haven't done any 1rm's for a while but will probably do some in about 6-7 weeks

not great i know :p
