OCUK Rolling Road 11 - Saturday March 19th 2011 - Eurospec, Guildford - Pictures, graphs, discussion

I won't say the dyno is under reading.. because it was 3% out from my last run.. which is nothing. I will however explain that (from what I know) on dyno dynamics rolling roads, one roller reads the power, and the other just rolls. I have seen where they get coast down figures and add them up to make the flywheel, but it seemed that at Eurospec, they were just using a formula to turn ATW to at the flywheel figures..

You have it right. I have been doing some research today relating to the Dyno Dynamics dyno (don't ask why :p ) and basically what happened at Eurospec2000 cannot produce accurate flywheel figures. Take the at the wheels figures, but the flywheel figures are pretty much throwaway if you have a decent amount of power (as being x% out makes more HP difference).

Can we take the powerstation RR, but with the Eurospec location (minus the knob on the end of the intercom when the barriers came down).

Don't want much do we :)

FWIW, I'd always rather a pub lunch than standing around eating pizza, but don't see the issue in people breaking off and doing their own thing. Those who want to run and watch the dyno can, those who want to stand around and chat and go off for some lunch can. Each to their own.

Yes please, then i can get a half accurate flywheel figure!

The at the roller figure though is a little under what the 1.8 mx5's got at PS last year, so i suppose that could be down to different rollers.

My power graph seems a bit odd though, seems my car backs off the power a bit when it goes into "open loop" as the graph doesn't increase at the same or greater gradient as i would have expected. Seems all is good though from what i have been told, and the car drives alright so will just leave it there and only keep the wheel power graph :p

Reading around the HSV forums it seems my car should have made about 415bhp at the fly based on my wheel HP of 310bhp. The average tranny loss seems around 105bhp.

Try not to get caught up on the figures :) Every dyno varies, and it would only be right for you to put it back on PS as a matter of comparison to your last runs pre exhaust system. That is the only way you can compare.

Think Princey was highest reading of owners cars, the 911 was the highest reading, but still about 100 hp down on what he expected, and the M5 didn't run it was only acquired the day before, and don't think PeterNem is really bothered, all I know is that even loaded with 5 fat people it bloody flies!

If the GT3 was down on it's claimed power I would feel 99% confident it was the dyno at fault as below standard is unheard of in my experience on any 911 let alone 100bhp below!

I might make a trip down there rather soon then as I would like a solid figure from my last run in prep for the headers and super charger.

The 911 that was run was a 996 Turbo S i think, might have been modified too

Turbo S should be bang on 450bhp (assuming 996) though more than likely would be a bit over but if it's had 'a map' I can believe it's not quite where the owner believe it would be, though if it's been done properly again I'd be surprised if it wasn't bang on the numbers, though air into a 911 is of course a big issue and would tend to be a problem on a RR with a single fan.
