Your M1 chip should be about the same speed as your 3070Ti, so if you're seeing it 3 times faster then something isn't configured right on your PC

Rx 7600, rx 6700 xt, or if you can find a cheap 3060ti are all better options for the money.

I'm using H.265, and yes I'm using Nvidia on my pc, otherwise h.265 wouldn't work.
Using h.265 on the Mac is 3 times faster using this.
When rendering in 4k, the 3070ti gets about 30ish FPS encode speed, the M1 is getting 90ish.

I would question that cited performance delta, however yes i know there are various extensions that your 3070Ti probably lacks.
Yet at the same time this is an example where you are locked in to specific optimised software that usually come with its own monetary cost, usually quite high too.
I'm free to do whatever i want.
Resolve is available for both platforms.
But you are the one that stated 4x or more in your case but I've given my case in a real world use.

RX6600 for under £200 or an RTX3060 12GB for under £250? Also the RX6700XT can be had for around the £300 mark sometimes.

Any one of these tho the 6600 is only 8GB, as a 1080P card for £200 i don't see that as a problem even if you might need to turn textures down a little in some games now or in the future. The 6700XT is a 12GB card and should be good for 1440P. That's actually a really good card.

It's a stock photo to show you where the option is, what's the rest of the PC spec? Because i find it difficult to believe that an non-Ultra M1 chip is 3 times faster than a 3070Ti
I'm more then a bit verse setting up resolve, the CPU is a 5900x from AMD.
Have you ever tried rendering in h.265?
For some reason I see people only working with x.264 which is slower.
The encoder in Apple hardware is just more optimised.
Bare in mind I'm using the free version, but that doesn't change the fact there is that performance difference.

Yes all the time, but only in 1080p and on very short videos. A 2-3 minute video flashes by so quick it can't be more than 10 seconds on my 3060

Try 4k, it's a different ballgame with 30 minute long videos
I want to add, when I render in 1440p, the render speed is around 70-80fps.
I think 1080p render was around 120 FPS render speed.
This is the speed on pc with the 3070ti

£270, i would still argue its a better buy than the 4060, being slightly cheaper, slightly slower but with 12GB instead of 8GB.
IMO the only option for £330 is the 6700XT, its much faster and again 12GB.
