*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Many thanks for that list, looks to be some great choice there.

Silly point but if buying directly then the games are then tied to a "Oculus" type platform of VR, if that is worded correctly..? But, as an example, if I bought Beat Saber on Steam then it would be playable with any PCVR system...?

If you buy on Steam, they will be available for every PCVR headset you buy. But, there is a program called revive which will let you play Oculus Store games on other headsets. Great for games like Asgard's Wrath and Lone Echo etc. The only games that aren't playable on another platform are ones you buy on the Quest 2 that aren't crossbuy.

also just to correct something Sarge2255 said. Steam Does refund games, the same as Oculus does.

That list was for somebody who had a Civ 1 before. But, you never had a VR headset have you? There some great games/experiences that are well worth getting. I can list out some of the main ones if you want.

Hey guys, I have the slightly fancier VR strap for my Q2, but the rubber kinda digs into the back of my head at the bottom. I was thinking I'd rig something up to make it a bit softer, but is there a "go-to" fix for this? The faceplate gives me some gnarly forehead pressure as well so thinking I want to swap that out for something softer.

You got the Elite Strap? You might need a counter weight. Try zip tying something that weighs about as much as mobile phone to the back of the strap just to test if that makes it more comfortable.

Have you bought an covers for it? Like anything from VR Covers to replace the facial interface?

You can get padding for the elite strap I believe. Or look to a halo style strap, which will also take the pressure from the faceplate off (albeit placing it somewhere else, but generally more comfortably).

I used an RTX 3080 I think the bitrate was 2Gbps in Oculus at the time as I used a sh** cable.

The Graphics Preferences
Here you can adjust your Refresh Rate and Rendering Resolution.

Refresh Rate: The number of times that your Quest 2 screen is updated with new images each second. You can set your refresh rate to 72, 80 or 90 Hz.

Rendering Resolution: Adjusts the resolution that the app or game you're using is being rendered at. The maximum rendering resolution you can set is 5408 x 2736.But I got to 4128 x 2096 @ 72 Hz.

What do you use?

I noticed that while increasing the refresh rate and rendering resolution, it resulted in improved visuals, these adjustments had a negative impact on overall performance. Even with the newest and most powerful GPU, maxing out values for the rendering resolution slider with a 90 Hz refresh rate resulted in dropped or missing frames, which created a less smooth experience in VR.

You could also purchase from OcUk, they'll throw in free shipping too. Any version, they are all the same just depends on your storage needs. I would say get what you can afford.
3080? You lucky sod! Yeah the Quest 2 is high res for modern PCs so will definitely depend what games you're playing. Beat saber or something less graphically intense should be able to be played at the highest res and refresh rate on your gpu. I also find that with certain games I reduce the refresh rate for higher res if the smoothness is less noticeable, in Squadrons for example. So lots of playing around per game with what works best for your setup if you care about maximizing your experience per game.

Steam refunds are great - except, obviously, if you have bought a Steam key from a reseller.
Interesting point regarding the "revive" program, could be very useful.
Nope, for us this will be a first time of owning our own VR headset. Neither of us would have bothered until we tried our Sons Playstation one and were amazed at its potential.

If you don't mind listing a few of what could be considered "good to have" that would be great. Many thanks.

yeah, im nearly done that one, just one puzzle im stuck on, cant seem to get though, lots of rings , tried all combinations, wont open up (im at the sea of blood) which is almost complete) just opened up another route but i cant get through, need to try again sometime

yeah done that (well on the last one) but need to do a new corridor first, i use the spear in two rings, got past that, then i get like 4/6 rings, tried all combinations and it doesn't open up

Hmm. If I remember correctly, you're trying to carry the charge along. So if caps mean charge, it's like Oooooo, you hit the first Oo, then it's oOooo, and then you take out the first one and throw into the next one, so it moves along to ooOoo etc etc and move it along to the end. It's been a while though, so I may be wrong!
