*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I was posting about Facebook's awful conduct ! They began forcing customers to sign into Quest 2 with a Facebook account, not good!

Nice to see the US is sueing them. They gotta change their ways fast.

Ironically, the forced Facebook login now means that many Quest 2 users are stopping using their Facebook accounts for anything other than just logging into VR.

Given that Facebook's so-called 'Community Standards' are constantly changing, and what's acceptable today will get you banned tomorrow, it's best just not to engage with the Facebook social media side, especially as a Facebook ban will remove access to all your paid games.

not oculous 2 specific :

Facebook SUED by the US Government to be SPLIT UP

A judge threw this case out once. And I don't see this next attempt faring any different.

Nearly every major company is going through Anti trust lawsuits. Google, Apple, Valve, Microsoft, Sony, Amazon etc.

And even if the lawsuit against Facebook wins, what's going to change? Google has been hit with 4 or 5 of them at this stage and nothing has changed for them or us really.

Indeed, that's one heck of a VR game. Probably top 3 in my books.

I'd like to see a part II
Definitely top 3! I'd say HL:A, Astro Bot and Lone Echo.
Part 2 would be amazing, but I think people would riot if we don't get a Half Life 3 next ....and if that turns out to be vr exclusive.....
Maybe Half Life 3 can be played pancake or vr?

You got a 10m x 10m playspace? But I agree it looks awesome!

I'm sure I can find one somewhere! The DX update versus mode for space pirate trainer sounds good as well though.

"The other new mode arriving in Space Pirate Trainer DX is Versus. Adding another multiplayer element, this time you don’t need as much space. Instead, players go head-to-head online in the normal Space Pirate Trainer area, however, there’s a twist. Each time you shoot a droid one will spawn to attack your opponent and vice-a-versa, creating manic shooting battles in the process."

That does sound awesome! Very into it. I can add many pieces of furniture getting recked playing that haha

Not sure if the foam pad was upgraded as I never had the previous one but it did come with the silicone cover that goes over the foam pad, if that's what you mean... :)

Yes, the 128gb will come with the upgrade pad
I'm sure they announced that when they recalled the others

This sounds very nice,128GB for the price of 64GB and also a more comfy face pad.

I heard that Lone Echo 2 is also on the cards for release at some point. Never got to the end of the first game, were there aliens at the end? I don't mind a spolier.

Completed the Pistol Whip campaign, really struggled on the wild west boss for some reason. And now able to get S rankings (hard) on some of my favourite levels, there is a but though. I knew aim assist was on and I am going for centre mass/head shots (so high/red scores per kill), but **** me - what a crutch it was. My aim was beyond shocking with it off :o, going to have to retrain myself all over again :D.

"it's life Jim, but not as we know it"

Completely agree with you there, some of the older games bizarrely work in VR very well - Doom 3 has been a cracking example of this. The fact it plays flawlessly within the Quest 2 headset without a PC is a testament to how effective this combination can be! The two downsides with this:
1) there's a lot of static asset/lack of VR interaction with objects.
2) I can't imagine games like the original Half-Life, where enemies can be bullet sponges, being especially good in VR.

I have recently played Half Life, Quake and Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the Quest 2 using the Dr Beef ports and they are all good fun. Quake II and Doom 3 are next on the list to try. As these older engines work so well in VR on the Quest 2 I'm surprised someone isn't knocking out new FPS games designed for VR using (say) id Tech 4 or whatever engine works best.
